Electronic Resources Policy and Regulation
The Puyallup School District has an "Electronic Resources" policy and regulation that defines acceptable and unacceptable network use. In part, Regulation 2022R states that "offensive, objectionable or inappropriate content posted on District-owned or operated internet sites or pages will be deleted at the discretion of the Superintendent or designee." Section 7 of Regulation 2022R also has rules of unacceptable use by visitors to District established social network or media sites, including District or official school established pages.
Regulation 2022R states in part that unacceptable network use by staff, students, and visitors to District established social network includes, but is not limited to, "Support or opposition for ballot measures, candidates and any other political activity"; "Information posted, sent or stored online that could endanger others (bomb construction or threats, drug manufacturing, etc.)"; and "Accessing, uploading, downloading, storage and distribution of obscene, pornographic or sexually explicit material."
Section 7 of Regulation 2022R further states that for staff, students, and visitors posting content on all District established social network sites: “All content must be directly and materially relevant to the District-sponsored content that invites public comment or responses” and that “Content may only use language, style and tone that is generally acceptable for publications intended to reach school-aged children and families, and that is consistent with the District’s educational mission generally and its goals of teaching civility, respect, and reasoned dialogue.”
Violation of the requirements of Policy 2022 and Regulation 2022R shall result in removal of prohibited content and/or denial of access privileges for violators.
