Your hypertension may not be completely your fault🤯
You might have genetics that are putting you at higher risk of turning on hypertension.
If you have turned on the single-nucleotide polymorphism, better known as a SNP with the GST enzyme you are at higher risk for going to the doctor’s office and seeing elevated blood pressure.
But all is not lost if you are born with these certain predispositions
There are studies that show that SNP’s won’t be turned on if you implement lifestyle changes.
A study conducted in March of 2013, found in the Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine, used yoga to reduce hypertension in patients with a confirmed SNP and hypertension.
The study found that after 60 mins of yoga for a consecutive 42 days, those in the experimental group showed a modest reduction in blood pressure compared to the control group who did not practice yoga and whose blood pressure levels did not reduce.
The morale of the story is:
Your lifestyle impacts your chronic health conditions because your genetics loads the gun, but your lifestyle pulls the trigger.
And in this specific case, yoga has been directly tied to decreasing blood pressure even when a SNP is present.
The even better news is, this is the exact work I do with clients.

Perimenopause is not a disease state.
It is the time to pay attention to the signals your body is sending you.
A glaring symptom of perimenopause is irregular periods that occur in your 40’s and can continue until you reach menopause.
Remember: the true definition of menopause is 12 full months without a period.
During perimenopause, you may skip a period one month and then it may return the next.
This is all driven by fluctuations in progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone.
Since everything is connected, you will see fluctuations in your neurotransmitters and in your thyroid health during this time as well.
Diet alone will not fix these fluctuations!
There are a number of pillars that you must address instead of bandaging with birth control and antidepressants.
Yes, perimenopause to menopause is a natural part of aging, but it does not have to negatively consume your life.
