Racine veterans need help saving the oldest living memorial float in America It’s a legacy dating back to the 1920s and a big crowd-pleaser for thousands in Racine but the veterans who run the Boys of 76 float need help keeping the tradition going.

The 87th annual Department of Wisconsin Oratorical Contest was held on Saturday, March 23 at Ripon College. The Regional contest was held in the morning and consisted of students representing 7 of the Wisconsin American Legion Districts. The top 2 contestants from each of the 2 Regional contests competed in the Finals contest that afternoon. Wisconsin’s own Alice in Dairyland, Ashley Hagenow, was our special guest speaker. Joshua Rush representing Mukwonago Post 375 from the 1st District was the winner and will represent Wisconsin in the National Contest that is scheduled on May 17 – 19, 2024 at Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. He will compete for a chance to win a $25,000 scholarship.
