Capturing a Bedazzled Personality 05/15/2024

Throughout life's hardships, Brushes with Cancer Inspiration Joni Goldstein held tight to her passion for dance and her dedication to living a bedazzled life.

“Joni is very bedazzled. I am not bedazzled, I am the opposite,” Joni's Brushes with Cancer Artist Nancy Rosen Art said.

Despite being the opposite, Nancy created the perfect bedazzled representation for her Inspiration, Joni.

Capturing a Bedazzled Personality Opposites make for the best pairings, and that’s what happened when we matched Inspiration Joni Goldstein and Artist Nancy Rosen.

From the Vault: "Landscape of Life," 2021

Brushes with Cancer Artist Andrea Picard was struck by the many facets of Inspiration Kandis Draw's personal life.

"The artwork is an attempt at sharing such growth and strength that comes from Kandis’s experience," Andrea says in her artist statement. "Heavily focusing on the community she gives back to and provides resources for, forgiveness that arrives at unexpected times, family foundations and the little things that bond a family together, and Kandis’ navigation in returning to a life that was much different than she remembered."

The piece represents Kandis' strong dedication to self.

"What is my Twist on Cancer?" Kandice says. "That no matter what it takes from you physically, it can't take internally. That the legacy you leave will follow you and speak through your loved ones."

When Artist Magdalena Cuevas connected with her Inspiration Lea Zarazua, there was something Lea said that stood out.

"She explained that the cancer didn't face her and that all along she felt God's presence and protection," Magdalena said in her artist statement. "Lea and her entire family faced this journey together."

Fittingly, the title for her Brushes with Cancer piece is "It Didn't Face Her."

"It's Starting to Look Familiar Around Here" by Brushes with Cancer Artist Jacqueline Carmody Art represents going on a journey, hike, or adventure and then getting unexpectedly lost and working to regain your bearings.

The colors used in the piece represent Brushes with Cancer Inspiration Kelly Boehm's energy.

"She is a cool chick and the artwork encompasses her energy and very chill personality," Jacqueline said in her artist statement.

Likewise, Kelly was moved by Jacqueline's interpretation.

"I’ve been struggling to express my cancer experience, and to have someone truly listen to my perspectives and craft them into a piece that I feel beautifully represented has been such a gift," Kelly said.
