Library, the Harrye B. Lyons Design Library, the Natural Resources Library, and the William Rand Kenan, Jr. Library of Veterinary Medicine.
The Libraries welcomes Katya Mueller as the 2024-27 NC State University Libraries Fellow! Mueller will join the Open Knowledge Center as her home department, and her initiative will be “Maturing the Libraries’ Data Management Planning Service” in the Research Facilitation Service.
This spring, Mueller received the Master of Library and Information Science from Syracuse University and holds the Bachelor of Arts in Classical Civilizations of Greece and Rome from the University of Rochester.

ONE ENDOWMENT, TWO LEGACIES. Mitchell Moravec (BS ‘18, MS ‘20) has created the Rupert Nacoste Libraries Wolf Tales Endowment which will provide support for Wolf Tales—the Libraries’ story-collecting program to document and archive NC State’s history in the voices of those creating it.
The project, run by the Libraries’ Special Collections Research Center (SCRC), collects the stories of the NC State community, past and present, in the form of video narratives and interviews.

July 31 marks the 58th anniversary of MLK's speech at Reynolds Coliseum and a K*K march through downtown Raleigh—a mostly forgotten moment in history until NC State's Dr. Jason Miller and Ph.D. candidate Margaret Baker used photographs and rare home movie footage to create the exhibit "When MLK and the K*K met in Raleigh" as well as an immersive experience about it.
Now, Miller and Baker have donated their research and production materials to the Libraries' Special Collections Research Center.

The Libraries has awarded two 2024 Tom Regan Visiting Research Fellowships to Kaitlyn Kitchen, a rising senior at Appalachian State University, and Sarah Scott, a professor of philosophy at Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY. The scholars will visit the Libraries for their month-long fellowships this summer.

The efforts of the Libraries' Special Collections Research Center (SCRC) toward diversifying archiving have been featured in an article in Inside Higher Education.
Virginia Ferris, lead librarian for outreach and engagement in the SCRC, spoke to the journal about how the center is working with an archive that simply didn’t bother to record the stories of commonly marginalized populations who played important roles in the university’s history.

The 2024 NC State University Libraries Faculty Award has been given to Terry “Bucky” Gates, an assistant teaching professor in Biological Sciences, whose collaborations with the Libraries in the areas of open pedagogy and citizen science are extraordinary.

The university recently held a launch event for Larry Bell's "Reds and Whites" installation in the Susan Woodson Plaza, just outside the Hunt Library. Paid for by private donations, the "visionary piece of outdoor art" salutes the creativity buzzing through the buildings on Centennial Campus.

Adebola Fabiku, the Libraries' Head of Access Services, has been elected the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) Division Councilor for the American Library Association (ALA) Council.
“Academia and libraries are a little slow sometimes in keeping up with our society's changing information needs, but RUSA has been an amazing division to be a part of because they are working towards improvements to the profession so we can better serve our users," she says of the honor.
Darby Orcutt, the Libraries' Director of Interdisciplinary Partnerships, is quoted in the article "Librarians Can Help Reframe the Research Impact Conversation" in the Charleston Hub. The article touts Sage Policy Profiles as a discovery tool for researchers.

The Libraries was recognized with a Chancellor’s Creating Community Award at the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity’s 18th annual Recognizing Excellence in Diversity (RED) Event. The award for “Outstanding College/Unit/Organization” was accepted by the Libraries’ Greg Raschke, Nellie Maurer, Tarida Anantachai, Jennifer Garrett, and Troy Hurteau.

Library Journal has named the Libraries’ Tarida Anantachai, Director of Inclusion & Talent Management, a 2024 “Mover & Shaker.” Anantachai is recognized in the award’s “Change Agents” category and is the 15th staff member from the Libraries to receive the award—the most honorees of any academic library.
