Our WHY is because access to world class medical care may be in your community, sometimes life-saving therapy can be far from home! 🔔
At the age of 3, Adalyn’s parents noticed a mass in the corner of her eye. After being diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare cancer, Adalyn began chemotherapy at Duke Health. Needing a specialized proton therapy, her Duke medical team referred Adalyn to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), approximately 500 miles from home for a specialized proton therapy.
Children’s Flight of Hope helped Adalyn reach this life-saving treatment. Since starting treatment at CHOP, she has completed radiation and chemo, with her scans showing CLEAR on March 13th!
Adalyn’s mom expressed deep gratitude for the organization's support during their cancer journey: “I wanted to send a huge thank you to you and your organization for helping our family with flights while Adalyn received Proton Radiation in Philadelphia. Having the flights provided made our cancer journey a lot easier and smoother. There is no way we could have afforded those flights on our own. Please share our appreciation with your colleagues and donors.”
Like your shirt says, Adalyn, you ARE tough!

Thanks to Duke Health we're able to bring care within reach for children no matter where they live and where they need to go. But coincidentally, next month Gunner will travel from Dallas/Fort Worth area to Duke’s Pompe Clinic, a clinic that helps people from around the world live longer and enjoy a better quality of life. Together, we're making a difference one flight at a time and one child at a time.
Join us in celebrating Duke Health and its commitment to community and children’s health! 💙🙌

It's International Neuroblastoma Awareness Week. 🎗️
Neuroblastoma is a rare form of cancer that affects just 700-800 children in the US each year, yet this diagnosis is the most common of our CFOH children!
Due to its rare nature, the best care for neuroblastoma is often not available close to home. CFOH makes sure this care is within reach, no matter how far and no matter how often!
We encourage you to check out our most recent impact report where you can read stories of hope and healing of children diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. https://buff.ly/3RrVV8x

Our 'why' is helping families get the answers they need!
David suffers from chronic rib, neck and back pain. He was recently diagnosed with Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome (SMAS), resulting in severe delayed gastric emptying, and congenital abnormalities in his ribs and spine.
Due to his rare conditions, David travels far from home to a specialist who has developed a care plan to help him regain his quality of life. He recently flew his first flight with CFOH in April and his mom shared that the appointment was amazing! David gave it a two thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻

She is being treated for Takayasu’s Arteritis, a very rare type of vasculitis. Besides getting care at NIH, she’s also part of a clinical research study. Helping my daughter get to NIH, is like helping millions of other children find cure from this disease. So thank you for the bottom of our hearts for your generosity. " - Ammie, Kialani's mom

Remember our post featuring Manaal who traveled from Sri Lanka to New York for treatment of her cystic Fibrosis? (swipe to watch again!)
We're thrilled to announce that her trip was a resounding success! Not only did Manaal receive the crucial care she requires, but her family also returned home equipped with tools and resources to support Manaal's ongoing health journey.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder that affects the body's ability to produce a functional protein, resulting in thick and sticky mucus in organs. This often leads to mucous clogs in the lungs and airways, posing challenges such as infections and breathing difficulties for CF patients.
With an estimated 105,000 people diagnosed with CF worldwide, access to resources for treatment can be limited in many countries. That's why we're immensely grateful that Manaal could access the necessary care in the US!
Would you like to make an impact by helping families like Manaal's? Visit cfoh.org to learn how.

On May 5th, attendees at Tee it Up heard heartfelt words from a very special family. Traveling for care of her complex heart condition, 3 -year-old Nevaeh has defied the odds and filled the room with hope!
Read the impactful words of Nevaeh's mother, Shyniece, below:
"Nevaeh had her first open heart surgery when she was 12 days old and weighed less than 4 lbs. We were told that she wouldn’t live longer than a year. From December 2020 to March 2021, we spent more time in the hospital than at home. In April 2021, we were put in touch with Boston Children’s pulmonary vein stenosis coordinator and placed on a waiting list for treatment. They accepted and had a placement for her after only a couple of weeks. We had to figure out how to fly to Boston on a day's notice and that is when we were introduced to CFOH! Our first flight supported by CFOH was on May 1, 2021. We have now flown 30 times to Boston for treatment, and it’s still just as invasive, but she knows that one of us will always be with her because of CFOH. To all that support CFOH, thank you for all you have done for Nevaeh and our family."
We are proud that with YOUR help we are able to help Nevaeh's family. If you are ready to make an impact by helping families like Navaeh's, visit cfoh.org.

Our programming growth continues to surpass all expectations, outpacing even our remarkable 2023 achievements. In 2024, we have provided one thousand client and parent round trips, all made possible by the generosity of every raffle participant, auction winner, donor, and golf sponsor. Each contribution translates directly into bringing life-changing and lifesaving care within reach for our CFOH children.
🏌🏿 Save the date for May 5, 2025!
Our 'why' is providing access to life saving medical care.
When Joshua's mom, Nidia, was pregnant, she received a devastating diagnosis - her baby's esophagus hadn't grown long enough to reach his stomach. Joshua was diagnosed with long-gap esophageal atresia. The doctors at their home in Nicaragua said they couldn't treat this rare condition.
That is when Joshua's mother found Boston Children’s Hospital, over 2,000 miles away from her home. Nidia safely got to Boston Children's Hospital and four weeks later, Joshua was born.
After six months of multiple surgeries, Nidia and Joshua were finally ready to go home to Nicaragua, just before his first-birthday!
Joshua is monitored at a local hospital in Nicaragua, but will continue to travel back to his specialized medical team in Boston for ongoing treatment and annual checkups. With the support of American Airlines, CFOH is here to support Joshua every step of the way. We believe distance to medical care should never hold a child back from receiving the care that could save their life!
If you'd like to learn more about our mission and continue to support Joshua's medical journey, visit cfoh.org.
"Some people who live out West, are 800 miles from a burn center.", reported Dr. Latenser, Burn Center Director at the University of Iowa Hospitals.
Did you know in 2023, burn injuries ranked as a top diagnosis of Children's Flight of Hope missions. With great distances to travel for care, CFOH provided 86 missions to hope and healing for children needing specialized medical care to accredited burn centers.
These numbers aren't just statistics—they represent the lives touched and the hope delivered though the generous support of our donors.
According to the American Burn Association, "Burn admissions are the most common May-August with 37.5% of all admissions occurring during this period."
As we anticipate increases in burn injury requests over the summer months, your support today will make the difference in the life of a child!
Thank you to our amazing community for your unwavering support. Together, we're making a difference one flight at a time! 💙
