He currently serves as the director of the Raleigh Capitol Sinus and Allergy Center and specializes in the comprehensive management of nasal and sinus disorders, including nasal obstruction, allergies, chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps, and pediatric sinusitis. He also performs nasal surgery, primary and revision sinus surgery, frontal sinus surgery, and in-office sinus procedures. His practice also includes all aspects of adult and pediatric ENT.

“I became a doctor because I wanted to dedicate my life and career to helping others, “ he said. “I had ear tubes placed as a child after suffering from painful ear infections. I have watched my mother suffer from allergies all her life. I have suffered from sinus problems myself. This personal experience with ENT conditions, coupled with a fascination with these parts of the human body and the medical and surgical treatments of these conditions, led me to pursue this specialty."

Use custom-made earplugs or swim molds to prevent water from entering your ears and causing infection. Dry your ears thoroughly after swimming by tilting your head to the side and pulling on the earlobe.

2. Fireworks & Concerts 🎆
Stand at least 10 feet away from loud machinery and explosives. Bring earplugs with a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 29 or higher and wear them when it gets too loud. You can also take regular breaks to give your ears a rest from the constant noise.

3. Travel ✈️
When flying, swallow and yawn frequently to equalize ear pressure. Avoid sleeping during takeoff and landing.

Huge congratulations to our very own Dr. Robert Majors! On May 15, 2024, he was honored with The William C. Friday Award for Distinguished Service in Retirement.

You might know Dr. Majors as a skilled ENT specialist who cared for patients at Raleigh Capitol ENT until his retirement in 2003. But what you might not know is that he's been doing some truly incredible work since hanging up his white coat.

Dr. Majors has dedicated his retirement to giving back to the community. He volunteers his medical expertise at the Open Door Clinic in Raleigh, providing ENT care to those who might otherwise go without.

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Majors and a few of his colleagues developed a garden to grow fresh produce for the clients of the Open Door Food Pantry. With little gardening experience, they harvested an astonishing 5,000 pounds of fresh veggies for families in need in their first 2 years. Today, their garden has moved to a new location and produces a whopping 10,000 pounds of food every season.

Dr. Majors' story exemplifies how one person can make a real difference in the lives of others. We're so grateful to have him as part of the Raleigh ENT family. Congratulations again, Dr. Majors, on this well-deserved honor!
