Under-eye fillers can be tricky, but I’ve always enjoyed tackling the more challenging areas of the face—noses, temples, eyes, and marionette lines. This patient a couple different areas we’ll address over time, but we’re starting with the eyes to rejuvenate her look.

When conventional options failed, I got creative to help this patient struggling with an unsightly, painful breast scar after augmentation 💗

Her surgeon couldn’t offer revision, but she desperately needed a solution for the raised, discolored scar causing discomfort. I explored an “out of the box” approach, responsibly pioneering a new technique under my overseeing plastic surgeon’s guidance.

Using strategic injection treatments, I was able to break up the dense scar tissue and improve blood flow to the area over 4 months.

While not a straightforward fix, my interventions reduced her pain significantly and prepped her scar for potential laser refinement. There’s always a way to improve difficult issues when you get innovative within your scope of practice!

As an injector, I truly care about exploring all options safely to help patients achieve their goals, even in challenging cases. Thinking outside norms is uncomfortable at times, but can create impactful breakthroughs.

I’ve come a long way. I had to find my own way when I started out as there were no mentorship’s nor much guidance. Thank God I worked for an interventional radiologist ahead of his time (thanks Dr Mehall🙏). Ground zero 20 years ago now sharing my experiences through training (13 of those 20 with my favorite plastic surgeon, .richardcarlino 😊)

As an injector, I’m extremely frustrated by the persistent myth and bad information shared by other professionals that there are “no board certifications” for injectable treatments like neuromodulators and dermal fillers. This is blatantly false.

The truth is, there are highly respected board certifications in this field that require thousands of hours of intensive training and hands-on experience - not just a weekend course. I should know, as I am dually board certified as a Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse (CPSN) and Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS). 📣

Obtaining the CPSN and CANS was no easy feat. It required years of specialized study and clinical practice in a core area like plastic surgery. These certifications don’t just validate my injectable expertise, but also my dedication to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality care for my patients.
So let’s put an end to the misinformation. Board certifications absolutely exist for aesthetic injectable treatments. They aren’t participation ribbons - they represent a superior level of training that too few injectors actualy obtain. As a dually certified aesthetic nurse, I’m proud of my hard-earned credentials and their meaning.

The next time you hear someone claim there are “no board certs” for injectables, it’s simply not true. Do your research and insist on an injector with legitimate board certifications. Your face deserves nothing less.
