It was an honor to visit the Monroe Fire Station #4 last night and officially present their new ISO rating, which has improved from a Class 2 to a Class 1! Congratulations to the Monroe Fire Department for this achievement, which reflects their hard work and dedication to safety in their community. Special thanks to Mayor Robert Burns, Fire Chief Ron Fowler, OSFM Ratings and Inspection Division and all the departments who worked tirelessly to earn the highest possible rating in North Carolina.
A huge thank you to all the first responders in our coastal counties. Today, you have shown what it means to protect and serve, even in the toughest conditions. Stay safe out there, and know that your community appreciates everything you do!
Good to be at the Target in Apex this morning to kickoff Child Passenger Safety Week alongside Mark Ezzell with the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, Apex Mayor Jacques Gilbert, Apex Police Chief Jason Armstrong and Kim Conyers with State Farm.
With deepest sympathy, we extend our thoughts and prayers to the Louisburg Fire Department during this difficult time as they mourn the loss of Captain Thomas Patterson.
It was an honor to attend a special ceremony and moment of silence at the North Carolina Training Center this morning. Construction crews stopped what they were doing to honor those who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001 attack on our Nation. It's important that we honor and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Let us never forget!
Great team led by Deputy SFM Tony Bailey doing really good work for the NC Fire Service. Thank you for your work! 🔥🚒
Another NCOSFM legend retires after 35 years. Thank you for your many accomplishments, service, and code development protecting the citizens of NC! Best wishes!
Honored to see Lt. Governor Mark Robinson as he visited the SAFRE Conference today! He stopped by the OSFM booth and personally thanked our dedicated team for their outstanding service. We appreciate his support and commitment to public safety.
Chief Taylor visited the State Emergency Operations Center today to connect with the dedicated staff managing the ESF 4 function of North Carolina’s State Emergency Operation Plan. Chief Deputy Williams and Deputy SFM Hodges are actively coordinating the readiness of Engine Companies and Tankers, ensuring they are prepared for deployment if needed during Tropical Storm Debby. As always, we urge everyone to stay prepared and stay safe.
I am deeply honored to be sworn back in for a second term as the Vice President of National Association State Fire Marshals (NASFM). It is a privilege to represent North Carolina on a national level and to advocate for our firefighters, code officials, and the citizens we serve across the country. I look forward to working tirelessly to make a positive impact for all.
It was great day visiting the Summer Fire Camps at the Oak Hill Fire Department in Morganton and the Gamewell Fire Department in Lenoir! These kids were amazing and, on the way, to being future firefighters!!!
True hero!
Former Buffalo Twp., PA, Fire Chief Killed at Trump Rally Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief with Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company, was killed protecting his family during a shooting at Donald Trump rally in Butler.
Hello from the Sunshine State! We’re having an incredible time at the NFPA Conference, balancing hard work with a lot of fun. From insightful sessions and networking with industry leaders to enjoying the vibrant atmosphere here in Florida, it’s been a great experience. Big shoutout to everyone who’s making this event a success –Looking forward to implementing new ideas and forging stronger connections.
Thank You for a Successful Smoke Alarm Saturday! With incredible support from our statewide fire departments, Kidde, American Red Cross, NASFM and State Farm, over 3,800 smoke alarms were distributed in NC homes in just one day. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the firefighters, volunteers, and organizations who dedicated their time and funding to canvassing the state. Working smoke alarms are the key to saving lives.
During the canvassing, more than 1,500 alarms were tested statewide, and volunteers found over 750 non-working smoke alarms in homes. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. Your dedication and hard work are making a real difference in our communities. Let's continue to work together to keep NC safe!
Another successful Smoke Alarm Saturday in North Carolina! We had over 80 fire departments and hundreds of volunteers statewide participating in this year's campaign. I would like to thank each of you for taking time out of your Saturday to prevent another loss of life. To our partners that made this event possible again this year.....Thank you for your support! Our host for this years press conference and kickoff... Chief Robinson and the Greensboro FD, Kidde Alarms, National Association of State Fire Marshals, American Red Cross, and State Farm. Check your smoke alarms and have a plan!
I along with our Manufactured Building Division attended this year's Annual Meeting of the NC Manufactured & Modular Homebuilders Association at Wrightsville Beach. I always look forward to meeting with our public partners and networking with the industry. We also heard a great story from former NE Patriot Joe Andruzzi about the work he is doing with children that are battling cancer. Joe comes from a firefighter family with his two brothers being FDNY FFs and both were on scene of the 9/11 attack with the oldest narrowly escaping the collapse of tower one.
Today, I was honored to present the Valor Award to Captain Barron Summey and Firefighter Michael Chafin of the Gastonia Fire Department for their incredible bravery!
On January 14, these heroes performed a daring high-angle rescue, saving a life from a 150-foot cell tower. Their courage and quick thinking exemplify the true spirit of our fire service. Congratulations and thank you!
Today I honor, and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Thank you for your service and dedication.
