Our partners on the ground are the heart of Curamericas Global. They are true heroes who dedicate themselves to saving lives every day. It was an honor to be able to have representatives from our project sites in Guatemala, Bolivia, and Kenya all come together in honor of our 40th anniversary!
The Community Health Volunteers and Health Promoters of the Nyagoto catchment in Kisii County, Kenya gathered to celebrate Anne's birthday! Anne is the project coordinator- she supervises our community engagement and mobilization activities, and she regularly goes with the volunteers and health promoters to support and guide them during their work with mothers in the communities. We are so thankful for all that she does and hope she had a wonderful birthday! π₯³
Thank you to everyone who joined in on our 40th anniversary celebration, recognizing our global partners and their incredible work! Here's to the next 40+ years! π Stay tuned for more pictures from the event to come soon!
One of our key values as an organization is - We assist individuals, communities, and local organizations to contribute to their community's health and wellbeing. KIKOP recently held a Promoter learning exchange meeting, during which Health Promoters from our 3 catchments in Kisii County, Kenya came together to provide support to each other by sharing best practices and discussing challenges and possible solutions.
We have exciting news! KIKOP was awarded substantial funding through a two-year grant from the Western Kenya Sanitation Project (sponsored by USAID) to βbreak the silenceβ around menstruation by providing education and market-based solutions to support menstrual hygiene management in Kisii County. This important work will make a significant impact in communities across three subcounties!
You're invited!! This year, Curamericas celebrates 40 years of providing hope through health to underserved communities around the globe! π Join us in Durham, NC on September 14 as we celebrate this milestone with our global heroes from several of our project sites π
I love what I do. Iβve been a midwife for over 30 years. When the Curamericas Global project of the casa materna came here, I now only bring women here because I know I wonβt be alone. I have more training and we have seen less deaths of both mothers and children because of the project. My name is Ana and I am proud of what I do.

Happy Mothers day to all the strong, loving mothers in Guatemala!
In honor of mothers day, and in celebration of mothers around the world this month, please consider a donation to our annual Mom-A-Thon.
Since 2002, Curamericas Global has been working in partnership with Curamericas-Guatemala to reduce the rates of infant, child, and maternal mortality in the highlands of northwest Guatemala. Your donation could provide hope through health for these communities. β‘

Our Community Health Volunteers in Kenya continue to dive into and learn our digital data system - analyzing and scrubbing data that they've collected during their visits with pregnant women and mothers of children under the age of two.
As they learn the system, they will be able to keep a pulse on health issues across 93 communities and provide support to each other.
Hope Through Health for 40 years!
As we reflect on our first 40 years, one of our biggest accomplishments has been creating a new paradigm for community-based maternal/newborn care that integrates indigenous culture and accessible, high-quality care with its Casas Maternas (Community Birthing Centers) in Guatemala in a respectful, culturally appropriate manner.
We remain committed to our mission of ending preventable child + maternal deaths by 2035. Join us.
We're taking a poll! π³
This month, Curamericas is diving into what it means to be a data-driven organization.
We want to know... what does "data-driven" mean to you? Let's chat in the comments. π¬
Our project site in Guatemala is located in one of the most rural + impoverished areas of the country. Thanks to our incredible community leaders, we are able to work with mothers on a one-to-one basis to promote health education in this isolated region.

Hello, April π·
This month, we're highlighting our core value of being a data-driven organization.

As Gender Equality Month comes to a close, Curamericas reflects on the ways that we offer sustainable solutions to systemic gender equality issues in communities around the world: Kenya, Guatemala, Bolivia, the United States, and more.
Here, you can see a Care Group in Guatemala - a mother-to-mother education program that cascades and promotes healthy behaviors in the home. π‘

Pop quiz! π§ Do you know the difference between EQUITY and EQUALITY?
This month, we've been highlighting our core value of equity. Let's dive in.
π€π½ For marginalized groups, this seemingly small difference can make a world of difference in health outcomes.
π€π½ The Race Matters Institute says, "The route to achieving equity will not be accomplished through treating everyone equally. It will be achieved by treating everyone equitably, or justly according to their circumstances.β
π€π½ At Curamericas, equity is at the core of everything we do: partnering with local leaders to identify real issues in a community + ensuring that resources are allocated accordingly.
Will you join us?
It's World Water Day π§
We work with our partner communities to improve clean water practices, ultimately improving the overall wellness of women and babies.
In Kisii County, Kenya, our educational home visits provide training to mothers on hand washing, water treatment and storage, and disease treatment.
Learn more about the impact of these programs here: https://www.curamericas.org/
Every month, our Community Health Volunteers in Kenya meet to discuss and clean the data they collected during their scheduled home visits to pregnant women and mothers of young children. π
This gathering helps our incredible CHVs learn and grow together as a team, ultimately identifying themes they observe within the community.
Data from home visits are reviewed on a monthly basis to keep a constant pulse on the most pressing issues across our 93 partner communities - allowing us to build programs that successfully meet the ever-changing needs of communities. ππ½
A central aspect of our CBIO methodology is community training groups, hosted by local volunteers living in the communities where we work, like Guatemala.
The trainings are held to help community leaders with proper prenatal, delivery, or postpartum care for mothers -- such as identification of danger signs during pregnancy. π€°π½
Every contribution helps Curamericas continue this important work around the world. Link in bio to contribute ππ½
It's International Women's Day! π©π½π±πΎββοΈπ©πΌβπ¦±π©π»
We believe that women make the world go 'round.
Whether it's the women in marginalized communities who face systemic barriers to achieving health and accessing proper maternal care -- or our community health workers who are driven to implement sustainable solutions.
We thank you. We respect you. We need you. β£οΈ
Show your support for the women in your life by supporting Curamericas. Link in bio.
We're highlighting another one of our core values:
π€π½ Equity π€π½
Curamericas promotes equity by prioritizing those in greatest need of quality healthcare, leading Curamericas Global to work in remote, often forgotten places.
No one should be forgotten or be unable to access basic care.
Join us in the movement.
Check it out! π€©
This year, our staff in Guatemala have partnered with local radio stations to promote the health services provided by Curamericas' Casas Maternas. All broadcasts are done in the local language.
This is just one example of how our team on-the-ground works hand-in-hand with local leaders to make lasting change in ways that resonate with the community.
