The City and our region are full of opportunities for economic growth and innovation, and often attract people traveling for business who utilize our local hotels. Visitors impact our City services using vital City resources. A Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT), also known as a hotel visitor tax, is a way for visitors to pay their fair share for the services they use. The guest staying at the hotel, motel or short-term rental pays the tax — not Rancho Cucamonga taxpayers.

Learn more at www.CityofRC.us/TOT as the City considers increasing the TOT via a local ballot measure on the November 2024 ballot.

We hear you, !

The City of Rancho Cucamonga and the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department have experienced an increase in calls for service, coupled with deputy observations, of subjects riding electric motorcycles on public roadways, bike paths, and horse trails throughout the city. The increase in subjects riding electric dirt bike-style motorcycles (common manufacturers include Surron, Mototec, and GMX Electric Dirtbike) has prompted additional traffic enforcement for riders observed on public roadways throughout the City.

RCPD have been working diligently to conduct enforcement stops and provide education to the public to address questions surrounding the use and legality of the operation of such vehicles on public roadways. Below are some frequently asked questions our deputies have encountered during traffic enforcement stops involving electric motorcycles.

The City is exploring placing an increase to its Transient Occupancy Tax, also known as a “hotel visitor tax” on the November 2024 ballot; the potential measure would be subject to citizen oversight and the City Council would have authority to reduce the tax if funds are unnecessary. All money raised by the potential measure could only be used to fund local services and infrastructure within Rancho Cucamonga city limits. More information is available at https://www.cityofrc.us/TOT

Attention pet owners! 🐶☀️ With summer temperatures on the rise, let’s keep our furry friends out of harm’s way and do what it takes to ensure their safety and well-being.

Never leave your dog in the car, especially during inclement weather. Instead, try these five alternatives recommended by the Rancho Cucamonga Animal Center:
1️⃣ Use the drive-through or curbside services for errands when available.
2️⃣ Bring a friend who can play with your dog outside while you run your errand.
3️⃣ Shop at pet-friendly stores where your dog is welcome to browse with you.
4️⃣ Eat at an outdoor café where your dog can sit with you in the shade.
5️⃣ Leave your dog at home where it’s cool and safe.

The City’s current Transient Occupancy Tax, also known as a “hotel visitor tax", is 10%. A potential measure increase from 10% to 12% would still be at or lower than most southern California cities. Most cities and/or counties in the United States have a TOT.

A TOT is an efficient way to raise revenue for local priorities while not increasing property taxes on residents. A TOT is only paid by visitors, not Rancho Cucamonga residents, unless residents stay at a hotel, motel, or short-term rental in Rancho Cucamonga. Learn more at www.CityofRC.us/TOT.
