Recall Kevin Crye

Roughly a quarter of the voters in Shasta County District One voted to recall Supervisor Kevin Crye. Only a few voters more opted to keep him in office. We thank the dedicated election professionals who worked tirelessly to ensure an accurate vote count.
The Committee to Recall Kevin Crye undertook this recall because of the chaos and waste brought on by Crye’s decisions. Crye would do well to take seriously the thousands of his own constituents who don’t agree with what he’s doing or how he’s doing it.
His swing vote to dismantle our voting system without a replacement cost money, time and trust, so did his consultation with a con man for election advice. His original selection for county CEO and subsequent department heads showed a lack of leadership and a penchant for cronyism. His elimination of development impact fees will likely leave the county well short of needed funds for future county facilities. His support to allow guns in our public meeting places shows a distinct lack of concern for safety and his actions are now bringing lawsuits against the county.
Thousands of local volunteers, donors and supporters united in this effort to save Shasta County. All of them live in District 1, pay taxes and have a right to equal representation on the board. We will continue to monitor Crye’s suggestions and decisions.
The board has new members who will be sworn in this coming January. We look forward to working with both the new and incumbent members on the board of supervisors to bring stability and reason to Shasta County. We encourage all supervisors to represent all of the people of Shasta County and we will remain vigilant in seeing to it that that is done.

The Committee to Recall Kevin Crye is optimistic about the will of the voters. At this point it looks like people want sane, reasonable and law abiding local government, but there are still many ballots to be counted. There should be an update Friday at 430pm.

Kevin could have really gained some brownie points here for being a decent human - but no, instead he chose to say nothing while a supervisor candidate accused Mary of worshipping Satan. Supervisor Crye Pulls Shasta County Into Legal Crosshairs
Lawsuit Filed Over Tribe Agreement
A lawsuit has been filed in Shasta County Superior Court against Shasta County and the County Board of Supervisors for what is claimed to be an illegal agreement with Redding Rancheria. The agreement was negotiated, sponsored, and led through approval by Supervisor Kevin Crye. Crye has declared frequently that it is a priority of his to protect the County from lawsuits. The agreement with the Tribe was approved by the Board with a 4-1 vote on July 25, 2023.
The lawsuit claims the Board, “gave away millions of dollars of public funds via an agreement with the developer of a casino.” Comparison with other counties shows hundreds of millions of dollars left on the table in the negotiation for fire, law enforcement, criminal investigations, traffic control, and road maintenance resulting in inadequate mitigation of costs.
The agreement was not approved by the County Counsel or the County Risk Manager as required by county policy. The Board also “disregarded a “scathing” report about the Agreement prepared by the County’s own counsel.”
The lawsuit asks for:
1. A declaration to the effect that the Board’s approval of the Agreement was contrary to law.
2. A writ directing the Board to set aside and/or rescind its decision to approve and enter into the
Agreement on behalf of the County
3. A permanent injunction prohibiting Respondents from taking acts, spending public funds, or using
public resources in furtherance of the Agreement, meaning neither the Board nor County may hire
outside counsel among other means to assist in the defense of the case.
4. Attorneys’ fees
5. And lastly, “for such and further relief as the Court deems just and proper.”
6. Petitioner hereby demands trial by jury.

"Can “local control” be gained with outside money?" We say "NO!"
💡 Why We Disagree: 💡
We firmly believe that true "local control" cannot be achieved when outside interests wield such significant financial influence. Anselmo has poured a staggering $157,000 into stopping the recall effort. How can we claim to have "local control" when our decisions are being bankrolled by wealthy outsiders?
🌟 Our Stance: 🌟
We stand for transparency, accountability, and genuine representation of the people of Shasta County. We believe that local decisions should be made by those who are directly impacted by them – the residents of our community. When outside money floods our local politics, it undermines the democratic process and erodes trust in our elected officials.
Join us in demanding accountability and transparency in our local government. Together, we can ensure that the voices of Shasta County residents are heard loud and clear.
In Shasta County, Outside Money Helps Supervisor Kevin Crye Pursue “Local Control" – Shasta Scout Shasta Scout's analysis of donations both for and against Crye's recall indicate that only about a third of his financial support comes from local sources. Can “local control” be gained with outside money? Crye says yes.
