The Save Gateway Committee Shifts Focus from their Recall Efforts to Electing a Capable Candidate

REDDING/SHASTA LAKE CITY, CA -

The Save Gateway Committee announced today that it will be discontinuing its recall petition efforts against Trustees Elias Haynes and Lindsi Haynes, effective immediately. The decision comes as the committee reevaluates its strategy to ensure effective governance at Gateway School District. The committee will now redirect its resources, including time and financial support, towards electing a highly qualified candidate in the upcoming November elections.

The recall petition was initiated due to concerns about the performance and leadership of Trustees Elias Haynes and Lindsi Haynes. However, after careful consideration and thorough discussions within the committee, it has been determined that pivoting efforts towards a more constructive and future-oriented solution will better serve the interests of the Gateway community, and save the school district the estimated cost of $225,000 for an additional special election (there is already a special election being held in November which will cost the district near $100,000).

By shifting focus toward the upcoming elections, The Save Gateway Committee aims to give the community an opportunity to elect a capable candidate from Area 2, who will bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a commitment to serving the best interests of the students, parents, and staff.

Spokesperson Jessica French expressed confidence in the decision, stating, "We believe that this shift in strategy will enable us to foster a more positive and productive environment within the Gateway community. Our primary goal is to ensure that the interests and aspirations of the Gateway community are met, and we are committed to working tirelessly towards that end."

The Save Gateway Committee encourages community members to engage actively in the election process and participate in selecting a candidate who will advocate for educational excellence, transparency, and accountability. The committee will actively support this effort by providing information and resources to help community members make informed decisions when casting their votes.

Last night at the regular board meeting, Lindsi and Elias Haynes voted AGAINST renewing Gateway's membership with the Shasta County Legal Consortium that saves the district a substantial amount of money for general legal direction that they don't have to pay an attorney for. Every other Shasta County School District is a member of this Consortium.

Lindsi Haynes, responded "For me, I think a lot of legal questions could be looked up on Google ". She voted no, her husband voted with her (like always) and the renewel did not pass.

Gateway is now the only school district not part of this power local legal Consortium. COME TO RALEYS TO SIGN THE RECALL PETITION - Gateway can't afford another year with these two in charge. Mon-Fri 4-7pm and Sat and Sun 9am-3pm

Last week, Lindsi and Elias Haynes came to our table where we were collecting signatures and attempted to intimidate one woman from signing by becoming verbally agressive and lying to her about her information being made public if she signed the petition. 🤯 Incredibly immature and unprofessional bullying behavior. We expect more from our children. 👶 . Recall Elias and Lindsi Haynes from their trustee positions. Gateway deserves better.

Gateway School District Board Members Elias and Lindsi Haynes were nowhere to be 👀 seen at any school graduation in their district. They say they're here for the kids?! Watch their actions 🎬, not their words 😤.

Yesterday, Elias and Lindsi Haynes and their friend came to Raleys to try and intimidate our volunteers and potential signers. Then they sent people today in their place. They were loud and obnoxious, and entitled. Lindsi asked to see our petition and verify its legitimacy (which they already had 10 days to do before it was approved), telling our volunteer to be quite when our volunteer called her out on her lies. Sound familiar? It was as toxic as one of her board meeting except Lindsi forgot she's not in charge and that it's against the law to threaten voters. One woman who approached the table was accosted by Lindsi Hayes and felt like Lindsi was trying to intimidate her into not signing as she told her that her name and address would be public record- NOT TRUE. Names and signatures of people who sign the recall are NOT made to be public record. The woman let Lindsi know that she was still signing and why - because they are bullies who don't listen to the people of Gateway. Lindsi and Elias need to go. Their bullying tactics these past two days only helped our cause. We had a steady flow of signers all evening so far. Stop by Raleys to sign the petition Mon- Fri 4pm-7pm or Sat-Sun 9am-3pm.
