The dish cart! For Montessori to work well there needs to be attention paid to ALL of the little details. Having the small things figured out to allow the children to be independent allows the big things to happen!
Having the dish cart clearly marked increases the likelihood that they will successfully clear their spot after snack and lunch. There is no confusion about where things should go…it is the SAME every time!! It continues to amaze me how powerful these things are, it just takes a little spark to ignite chaos! Let’s instill as much routine as possible to avoid unnecessary chaos!
If you become emotionally elevated try the 54321 method to mitigate this feeling and ground yourself. Grounding exercises can help reduce stress, anxiety, and overwhelm.
Use your senses to help by finding items and saying them out loud or silently to yourself.
👁️ 5 things you can see
✋🏾 4 things you can touch
👂🏾 3 things you can hear
👃🏾 2 things you can smell
👅 1 thing you can taste
Using our senses is a simple way to ground ourselves at the moment and reset. Raise your hand if you have done or find the 54321 method helpful.
If you need help or support:
📱 Call or text the PSI HelpLine. You never need a diagnosis to ask for help.

What is ROWELL?
Rowell is a parent-founded and parent-run organization specifically funded (mostly by state grants & contracts) to provide direct services to families with children with disabilities ages birth – 22 within Siskiyou, Trinity, Shasta, Tehama, Glenn, Butte, Modoc, Lassen, and Plumas County.
A child may have a diagnosis, may be at risk, or the parents may be concerned and would like to seek an evaluation. Whatever the reason, we provide guidance to families who may not be familiar with the special education system or related services.
So excited to see them doing an IEP training in SPANISH!!!
This month we will be highlighting and discussing I.E.P.'s and why they are important.
IEP stands for Individualized Education Program.
An IEP lays out the special education instruction, supports, and services a student needs to thrive in school.
IEPs are part of PreK–12 public education.
Our Espanol training is in on the 13th, and our English one is on the 20th.
In addition to counseling services, my associates and I love to do training!
I am excited to present for First Five Shasta and I would love if you would like to join us! I am really passionate about engaging and supporting parents to build resilience in children. Children need informed and connected parents and care givers to be healthy!
This is a job/program that truly builds the community while building up their employees! AmeriCorps changed my life and helped this previously single mom earn a Master’s degree which eventually led me to being a counselor and open my own business! My AmeriCorps time completely changed my life!

The mission of Pathways to Hope for Children (Pathways) is to promote a local culture that values all children and families. Pathways has a vision to see a community where all children are valued, nurtured, protected, and therefore reach their full potential.
One way you can make an impact in our community is to volunteer some of your time to interact with the teens at Pathways' teen centers and doing some fun and meaningful activities. Any individuals 18 and older are able to potentially volunteer.
There is a special opportunity for older adults (60+) specifically with our Hope Park Project!
The goal of Hope Park is to bridge the generational gap between teens and older adults within our community with activities, mentoring and time together in our teen centers.
Hope Park is looking for older adults 60+ years old or older to volunteer some of their time and do fun high adventure activities such as hiking, ropes courses, horseback riding, white water rafting, and various other activities.
For more information or to answer any questions you may contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (530) 242-2020.
