🏆✨It is an incredible privilege to be recognized for our network’s dedication and hard work in removing barriers to college. This award serves as a testament to the passion each of these recipients have for making a positive impact on the lives of students and the community as a whole.
Reach Higher Shasta is the proud recipient of a Golden Bell Award, presented last night by the California School Boards Association in San Francisco. Reach Higher Shasta was honored in the Equity and Access category for its Student Matriculation Project, which has been pivotal in identifying barriers that hinder our students from successfully enrolling at Shasta College. These reports have made it possible to target students who have errors in their college portals, creating obstacles for them when enrolling as a first-time college student. This kind of data report system is unlike any in the nation, and in just two years, there has been a 46% increase in Shasta County students enrolling at Shasta College during the fall after high school graduation. This project involved the Shasta County Office of Education, Shasta Union High School District, Anderson Union High School District, Gateway Unified School District, Fall River Joint Unified School District, and Shasta County Independent Study.

About Us
North State Together (NST) is a regional collective partnership funded largely by the McConnell foundation. NST is a Cradle to Career partnership in the North State where leaders from education, business, philanthropic, nonprofit, civic, and faith communities join together to improve education success for every child through a data-driven, collective impact approach. The goal is to increase educational options at all levels with ultimate impacts on overall economic and community health.
North State Together focuses on strengthening the work of our five county collaboratives, while reducing redundancies, leveraging resources and creating a regional effort that will make broad impacts throughout all counties in the north state region (Tehama, Shasta, Trinity, Siskiyous and Modoc). The purpose of the north state collective impact model is to increase community vitality through local solutions within a regional support framework.
This grant is administered by Kevin O’Rorke, Kate Mahar, Jamie Spielmann, and Susan Schroth.
