Over the weekend we moved in a remarkable addition to the office. My mother in law created this oil painting in the late 1960’s and was gracious enough to allow us to put it on display in the conference room! The painting is almost 10 feet wide by more than 6 feet tall! A special thanks to the Giles/Stenlund crew for their assistance in relocating this piece of our family’s history.
Come check it out if you’re in the neighborhood.

Yesterday was the 58th anniversary of President Kennedy’s dedication speech at Whiskeytown Dam. You can hear his speech in the provided link.

“Every time we bet on the future of this country we win. Every time we develop the water resources [or] we set aside recreation areas we can be sure they will be used.”

On this date in 1963, U.S. President John Fitzgerald Kennedy spoke these words while formally dedicating Whiskeytown Dam on a conservation and political tour of the U.S. West. Kennedy’s dam dedication symbolized the completion of the Central Valley Project, a federally funded project overseen by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation and including Shasta Lake, Trinity Lake and associated infrastructure. The goal of the project was to bring additional water to the Central Valley for agriculture.

Dignitaries attending the Whiskeytown Dam dedication with President Kennedy included but were not limited to California Governor Edmund “Pat” Brown (father of more current California Governor Jerry Brown), Redding native and local community and political leader Laurence Carr (brother of James K. Carr), U.S. Secretary of the Interior Stewart Udall, Mrs. Clair Engle (U.S. Senator Clair Engle was dying and was too sick to attend), and U.S. Representative Harold “Bizz” Johnson.

Returning Home Checklist - Ready for Wildfire Although wildfire damage can be immeasurable, the danger is not over after the flames are put out. Flash flooding and debris flows, structural damage, road instability, and damaged trees are just some of the dangers that exist after a wildfire. Keep these tips in mind:

We will rise above this too.
Our hearts are with all of those who are affected by the . We have an amazing community here, and it is incredibly healing to see so many come together to help. Thank you to the many volunteers and to the fire firefighters who are risking their lives to keep our homes and families safe.

Happy Constitution Day!

On this day, September 17th, 1787, the 39 delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the United States Constitution. Constitution Day, along with Independence Day and Presidents' Day, is an important part of the cultural heritage of the United States of America, because it recognizes the value of the American experiment, and the success of a nation of free people whose rights and liberties are protected by a written Constitution.

We are celebrating here at the law office, year round, by handing out free copies of the Constitution. Swing by and pick yours up!

Today we also celebrate "Citizenship Day," in honor of the American people, especially those who have recently become citizens of the United States.

Goat Strike Force! They're back. Please adhere to the RFD guidelines concerning our four legged friends. And look out for goat crossings!

Guess who's baaaaaack! The Goat Strike Force is heading back to Redding this week to help the The Redding Fire Department, Redding Electric Utility - REU and the Redding Parks Department reduce the risk of wildfire.

The contractor, Blue Tent Farms in Red Bluff, will begin placing the fence today at the first location, off Buenaventura, between Teton Drive and Canyon Creek Road, as well as at 2700 Placer Street. The herdsman's camp trailer will be placed immediately south of Teton Drive, directly off the Buenaventura roadside.

Look for those four-legged firefighters starting this Thursday or Friday.

While it’s great to see the Goat Strike Force return to the community, please keep the following reminders in mind:

🐐The paddock fence is electrified, so please DO NOT touch it.

🐐Please DO NOT feed or disturb the goats.

🐐Herd dogs will also be protecting the goats. DO NOT attempt to feed, pet or disturb the working dogs.

Who else is all smiles about this news?

When you get all of your client's property back, sometimes they pay you with rare, antique shotguns, like this Wi******er, model 1886, lever action, 10 gauge. As you can see, that makes Mr. Williams very happy.
