Autism Storytelling
Everything we do, even our name, is focused on destigmatizing differences and encouraging pride in our diversity. Autism need not be feared and the autistic should never feel ashamed of who they are.
2017 is one of our most impactful years to date: We activated autistic advocates and television, film and Broadway stage actors to speak out in unity for autism, reaching over 3 million people through our #Activate4Autism campaign. We sparked curiosities of over 1,000 elementary school children through our Marvel comic style assemblies and gave teachers tools to bring the topics of autism into their classrooms.
Our approach as a nonprofit is to be a part of modern pop culture—to use technology and the art of storytelling to open hearts and minds to a unique, under served population. We empower and encourage autistic individuals to be their own storytellers for an even greater impact. Our heart and authenticity comes from having an awesome autistic team involved in everything we do—comics, articles, public awareness campaigns, school outreach, essays, e-books and children’s webisode series.
The public is aware of autism but we have a long way to go before people understands what it means to be on the autism spectrum. The autistic are often misunderstood, marginalized, undervalued, and 3 times more likely to be bullied.
