PerformancEDU Training Facility was created by Marc Digesti in January of 2010, with the goal of merging Performance and Education in the Reno/Tahoe area. The primary goal of PerformancEDU is to continue to provide its clients and athletes with the most effective training in the Reno/Tahoe area. All of our programs emphasize a movement-based training methodology, which are periodized to prepare our clients and athletes for sport and life.
Master basic movements first. Proper form trumps heavy weights when it comes to preventing injury.
Marc Digesti & Darcy Norman: Shaping the Future of Performance Training
Marc Digesti and Darcy Norman recently reflected on how their time at Athletes' Performance, now known as EXOS, has profoundly influenced their approach to evaluations, education, methodology, and programming.
Include mobility work like stretching or foam rolling to improve flexibility and reduce muscle tension.

Labor Day Hours at Performance EDU
This Labor Day, we’re here to keep you moving! We’ll run private and semi-private sessions from 7 AM to 12 PM. Make sure to chat with your coach and get scheduled for a fun-filled holiday workout! 💪
Don’t miss the chance to stay on track with your goals while celebrating the long weekend. See you on the floor!
How can we bridge the gap between physical therapists and performance coaches? Let's hear Dennis Logan's answer.
---------------------------------
Progress happens when you transition from rehabilitation to optimized movement and performance. Bridging the gap between physical therapy and performance training becomes crucial.
Our approach seamlessly integrates the science of rehab with advanced performance techniques. We don’t just focus on healing injuries—we aim to restore full functionality and enhance your body's natural movement patterns. By combining mobility work, strength training, and functional exercises, we help you move beyond recovery and build a foundation for peak performance.
The process is personalized, progressive, and driven by science. Whether you’re bouncing back from surgery, dealing with chronic pain, or just looking to improve your movement efficiency, our goal is to ensure you can confidently return to your sport or daily activities or even excel beyond your previous limits.
Bridge the gap. Move better. Perform better.
"Success isn't always about greatness. It's about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come."

Consistency Over Perfection: The Key to Fitness Success
In the fitness world, there's a common misconception that you must be perfect to see results. People often strive for flawless diets, intense workout routines, and zero mistakes. But here's the truth: consistency beats perfection every time.
Why Consistency Matters
Fitness is a long game. It's not about how hard you can go for a few days or weeks; it’s about what you do daily. Even when it’s not perfect, showing up builds the habits that lead to real, lasting change.
Progress Over Perfection
Did you miss a workout? Ate off-plan? Don’t stress. Progress isn’t about never slipping up; it’s about getting back on track quickly and not letting small setbacks throw you off course. Consistently hitting 70% of your goals will bring better results than burning out on a strict 100% plan.
Tips for Building Consistency:
Set Realistic Goals: Aim for small, sustainable improvements. If you can commit to three workouts a week, that’s better than an unsustainable six days that leads to burnout.
Focus on Habits: Prioritize habits like daily movement, balanced nutrition, and adequate sleep over chasing short-term goals.
Celebrate Small Wins: Progress is progress, no matter how small. Celebrate those victories because they build momentum.
Be Patient: Results take time. Trust the process, stay consistent, and remember that your effort compounds over weeks and months.
Fitness is not about being perfect; it’s about showing up consistently. Your small, consistent actions today will lead to the big results you want tomorrow. Stay focused, stay steady, and remember – consistency drives real change.
So, keep going! You’re closer than you think.

What are the differences between a Strength Coach, Performance Coach, and Personal Trainer?
Strength Coach: Specializes in developing strength, power, and conditioning specifically for athletes through sport-specific training programs.
Performance Coach: This type of coach takes a comprehensive approach to enhancing overall athletic performance, incorporating strength, speed, agility, and recovery strategies. The coaching is tailored for athletes at various skill levels.
Personal Trainer: This type of trainer focuses on a broader clientele and addresses general fitness, health, and lifestyle goals such as weight loss, muscle gain, and overall well-being.
Key Difference: Strength and performance coaches specialize in athletic development, while personal trainers cater to general fitness needs.
Learn a bit more about our GM, Collin LaPorte
Collin grew up actively participating in 3-4 sports annually, with soccer eventually becoming his primary focus. His dedication led him to compete at the highest levels, traveling extensively across the country. Collin firmly believes that fitness and personal competition are powerful tools for self-discovery. With the right mindset, coaching, and resources, he feels that we can surpass our expectations in every endeavor.
Collin's passion for fitness and movement grew while studying Kinesiology at a junior college in California. After earning his AA degree, he moved to Reno to pursue a Bachelor's in Kinesiology at the University of Nevada. Over the past 5-6 years, Collin has gained substantial knowledge and experience in his fitness journey, even developing personalized training programs for others.
In his free time, Collin enjoys activities that challenge him physically. Skiing is a favorite winter pastime, where he thrives on racing down mountains, tackling jumps, performing tricks like 360s, and navigating park features like rails and boxes. He also takes pleasure in competing in Spartan races, running events, and other athletic challenges.

Prioritize Recovery! 🧘♂️
Don’t skip the recovery— it’s just as important as your workout! Proper recovery helps repair muscles, improve performance, and reduce the risk of injury. Incorporate active recovery methods like foam rolling, stretching, or a light walk. And don't forget sleep—your body does most of its healing when you're resting. Make recovery a part of your routine, and you’ll bounce back stronger every time. 💤💪
It’s tempting to chase bigger weights, but proper form should always come first. When you prioritize technique, you engage the right muscles, prevent injury, and actually build strength more effectively. If your form breaks down, lower the weight and dial it in. Quality reps lead to better long-term gains. Progress happens when you move right, not just when you lift heavy! 🎯
Fitness doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the most effective workouts are the simplest ones. Focus on mastering fundamental movements like squats, pushes, pulls, and core stabilization. These basic exercises build a strong foundation, enhance functional movement, and help you crush your goals without getting caught up in overcomplicating things. Remember, consistency trumps complexity. Let’s move with purpose and get after it this week! 👊
Please welcome our newest performance coach, Mimi!
From a young age, there has always been a passion for movement and an enthusiasm for exploring the gym like a playground. The fascination with different equipment and the joy of challenging both the mind and body led to participation in several sports throughout childhood. In high school, the choice to enroll in a CrossFit class instead of the traditional PE option sparked a love for weightlifting and the drive to get stronger and faster. Learning the fundamentals of strength training became the foundation for developing personalized workouts.
After more than eight years of dedicated training, this passion evolved into a career pursuing a personal training certification. The goal now is to help others discover their own love for fitness and health, empowering them to feel strong and confident in both body and mind.
Outside of the gym, outdoor activities like swimming, spending time at the lake, playing sports, camping, and traveling are the preferred pastimes.
Becoming part of the Performance EDU community has been a rewarding experience, with the opportunity to meet so many friendly faces and learn from brilliant coaches. It’s truly the perfect adult playground!

6-week challenges at Performance EDU are highly effective for individuals seeking accountability, training, and weight loss due to several key reasons:
1. Structured Timeframe:
Clear Goal Setting: The fixed 6-week period provides a concrete timeline for setting and achieving specific goals, helping participants stay focused and motivated.
Sense of Urgency: Knowing there's a limited time to make progress encourages participants to stay committed and push themselves.
2. Accountability:
Regular Check-Ins: Participants often have scheduled check-ins, weigh-ins, or progress meetings, creating a sense of responsibility to stick with the program.
Group Support: Many 6-week challenges are done in a group setting, providing a community of peers who offer support, encouragement, and accountability.
3. Intensive Training:
Focused Effort: The short duration allows for a more intensive training approach, helping participants make significant progress in a relatively short time.
Personalized Plans: Trainers can tailor the program to each individual's fitness level and goals, ensuring effective and safe progress.
4. Behavioral Change:
Habit Formation: Six weeks is often seen as the ideal time to form new habits. Participants can establish healthier routines that last beyond the challenge.
Mindset Shift: The challenge encourages a shift in mindset from short-term dieting to long-term lifestyle changes.
5. Visible Results:
Quick Wins: Participants often see noticeable results within six weeks, whether it's weight loss, increased strength, or improved fitness. These results can be highly motivating and reinforce positive behaviors.
Progress Tracking: Regular progress tracking provides tangible evidence of improvement, boosting confidence and motivation.
6. Comprehensive Approach:
Nutrition and Training: Most six-week challenges combine nutritional guidance with exercise, offering a holistic approach to weight loss and fitness.
Education: Participants often receive valuable education on fitness and nutrition, empowering them to make informed decisions even after the challenge ends.

Creating a healthy shopping list is a great step towards improving your diet. Here are some tips to help you make a nutritious and balanced shopping list:
1. Plan Your Meals
- Weekly Planning: Plan your meals for the week, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
- Recipes: Select recipes that emphasize whole foods, like vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats.
2. Categorize Your List
- Produce: Fresh fruits and vegetables (e.g., leafy greens, berries, carrots, avocados).
- Proteins: Lean meats, fish, eggs, tofu, legumes, and nuts.
- Grains: Whole grains like quinoa, brown rice, whole wheat pasta, and oats.
- Dairy/Alternatives: Low-fat dairy products or plant-based alternatives.
- Healthy Fats: Olive oil, nuts, seeds, and avocados.
- Snacks: Healthy options like yogurt, nuts, and fresh fruit.
3. Stick to the Perimeter
- Perimeter Shopping: Focus on the store's perimeter, where fresh foods are usually located (produce, dairy, meats).

5. Read Labels

Here are some strategies to help you avoid late-night cravings:
1. Eat balanced meals: Make sure your meals have a good balance of proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates to keep you feeling full for longer.
2. Stay hydrated: Drink enough water throughout the day to reduce unnecessary cravings, as thirst can sometimes be mistaken for hunger.
3. Set a routine: Establish a consistent eating schedule and try to have dinner at least a few hours before bedtime.
4. Choose healthy snacks: If you need a snack, go for something light and healthy like a small portion of nuts, a piece of fruit, or yogurt.
5. Practice mindful eating: Pay attention to what and why you are eating, as cravings can be triggered by stress or boredom rather than actual hunger.
6. Limit sugar and refined carbs: These can cause blood sugar spikes and crashes, leading to increased cravings.
7. Brush your teeth: This simple trick can signal to your brain that it's time to stop eating.
8. Get enough sleep: Lack of sleep can increase hunger hormones, making you more prone to cravings.
9. Reduce stress: Manage stress levels through practices like meditation, deep breathing, or light exercise to avoid emotional eating.
10. Keep temptations away: Avoid keeping unhealthy snacks at home to reduce the likelihood of indulging.

Our Story
At Performance EDU, we believe that fitness is built from a strong foundation. Healthy movement starts from well coached positions, proper activation, and a desire to move well. Our passion is coaching. Our facility is designed to facilitate healthy movement. And our intention is to stimulate our clients’ desire to move. Our equation for a good foundation is simple. Get the right parts of the body activated, you will move pain free. Teach someone to move correctly, strength will continue to increase. Pain-free moving where strength continues to grow develops an increasing desire to get better, grow stronger, and move well. Foundations are the strength below every building, and the body is no different. Build your foundation and your body will grow strong, be resilient, and have longevity, whether you are an athlete, a weekend warrior, or just someone interested in looking and feeling good.
