Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read and spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship.

In early 2024, our newest bookmobile launched, thanks to funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Learning isn't just for kids. It can be a lifelong experience! Several Washoe County Library locations regularly host Lifelong Learning classes geared toward folks over 55.
