Great job by our officers on some recent cases:

On November 30th around 11am, our officers located a stolen vehicle and arrested the offenders after being found inside a local barber shop. The occupants of the stolen vehicle were ages 16, 17, and 18. The mother of the juveniles had arrived in a separate vehicle and lied to officers as she stated the juveniles came to the business with her. Surveillance video showed otherwise and she was arrested. Her 17 year old son was found with a loaded gun in his waistband. Both juveniles admitted they were arrested the previous day in a stolen vehicle.

On December 4th around 2am, our officers located a stolen vehicle and it fled from officers at a high rate of speed. The occupants stopped the vehicle and fled on foot. Three juvenile occupants, ages 14, 15, and 17 were arrested. The 17 year old juvenile was arrested less than month earlier in a stolen vehicle. On December 5th officers were notified two of the juveniles had been released from the juvenile detention center and had run away from their placement home.

December 4th around 5pm, our officers located a stolen vehicle and the occupants had fled. A 15 year old juvenile was located and arrested. Juvenile detention advised officers to release the juvenile to his mother.

We are seeking sponsors for our Shop with a Cop Program this year. Each year, we take children from our community to shop for Christmas gifts. The children buy gifts for themselves and family members. The items they choose are gift wrapped and saved to be opened up on Christmas. If you are interested in supporting this program, please drop off Walmart Gift Cards to Officer King. The gift cards can be dropped off to our records personnel in the lobby of the Reynoldsburg Police Department. Thank you for your support.

Great job by second shift officers last night on the recovery of two stolen vehicles.

During the first incident, Officers were dispatched to Home Depot on a shoplifting complaint. Officers made an arrest of a 41-year-old male and found the vehicle he used in the parking lot. Officers discovered the vehicle the offender was using was stolen out of Franklin County. Methamphetamine was recovered from the vehicle.

During the second incident, officers located a vehicle stolen from Columbus in the Walmart parking lot. RPD officers confronted the two offenders, ages 16 and 18, as they entered the vehicle. One offender fled into a wooded area and was apprehended by officers shortly after. A gun stolen out of Columbus was recovered from the vehicle. Ma*****na and suspected co***ne were recovered from the juvenile.

So not only is stealing the car not enough for these car thieves, they are intentionally causing more damage by breaking all the windows when they dump the car. Recovered this morning off Livingston near Brice Rd.

The reality of juvenile car theft crimes. On October 6th, officers were dispatched to Brice and Livingston on an injury crash. Two juveniles in a stolen Hyundai ran a red light at a high rate of speed and crashed into a vehicle occupied by two females, ages 59 and 61. The crash totaled the stolen Hyundai and caused disabling damage to the second vehicle.

The juveniles, ages 14 and 16, in the stolen Hyundai fled on foot and were apprehended by officers shortly after. Both had been arrested for the same crime before and had warrants for their arrest. Juvenile detention would not accept them and they were taken to a non-secure facility.

Great job by Officer Cooley and third shift officers. On September 19, 2023, Officer Cooley had a vehicle flee from him while attempting a traffic stop. Last night, Officer Cooley observed the same vehicle drive through town and boxed the vehicle in as it parked on Bairsford Dr.

The occupant, Mauhamed Bangoura (22), was not compliant and was arrested. The vehicle contained ma*****na, a rifle, three handguns, and a ballistic plate carrier.

Bangoura made his familiar trip to jail with new charges.

Last night, patrol arrested Lorenzo Winters (19) in the 7100 block of E. Main St. for burglary after he was observed by a resident in their apartment at approximately 430AM. Officers responded to the area within minutes and located Winters not far from the apartment. Upon arrest, Winters was found in possession of property taken from the victim’s residence.

Winters is known to RPD officers, as the RPD arrested him on February 11, 2023 and charged him with a residential burglary. In that incident, a victim stated he found Winters in his apartment and when confronted, Winters assaulted the victim. Responding officers found Winters near the apartment and he resisted arrest. He was released from jail on bond three days after that arrest.

On July 28, 2023 patrol officers located a stolen vehicle in the area of Brice Rd. Three juveniles fled on foot from officers. Officers were able to apprehend a 13-year-old juvenile and a 14-year-old juvenile. One juvenile provided officers with a false name and was later found to have two felony warrants for attempted receiving stolen property. Juvenile lockup would not accept this juvenile and he was transported to a non-secure facility to be picked up by a guardian.

On July 31, 2023 patrol officers located another stolen vehicle in the area of Livingston Ave. and Brice Rd. Three juveniles fled on foot from officers. Officers were able to apprehend a 13-year-old offender and two 14-year-old offenders. Juvenile lockup would not accept the 13-year-old driver and she was released to a non-secure facility to be picked up by a guardian.

Many hard working people continue to be victimized by vehicle theft in the Central Ohio region. These crimes also put the public in danger as the drivers of these stolen vehicles flee from our officers at high speeds. Our officers will continue to work hard to do our part in trying to reduce these types of crimes.

Our prayers are with the Columbus Police Officer who was shot in the line of duty today while confronting three dangerous criminals. Police officers risk their lives each day trying to remove dangerous people from their communities.

On July 3, 2023 officers located a stolen vehicle on Brice Rd and made a traffic stop on it. The driver, Amari Stevens (18) rammed several police vehicles and fled the scene at high speeds. The driver fled onto IR 270 before crashing the stolen vehicle on Old Dublin Granville Rd. near Hamilton Rd. Mr. Stevens survived the crash.

Officers recognized Mr. Stevens due to them arresting him 10 days earlier after he crashed another stolen vehicle after fleeing from officers. During that encounter, Mr. Stevens was unlawfully in possession of a loaded gun.
