Senior Citizens of Reynoldsburg - SCOR

SCOR went on a field trip to Zanesville. We started with a tour of the Conn's Potato Chip Factory (wearing hair nets) and had some hot potato chips right off the assembly line. Went to lunch at Muddy Misers along the Muskingum River. Then HAD to stop at Tom's for a treat. It was a fun day!

When the temperatures rise why not come in and cool off at SCOR? Our afternoons are full of activities (and people)!

It took a bit of doing, but Jim and Brian got a commercial lift in the building, untangled the balloon from the fan and retrieved the other balloons floating on the ceiling. Jim even cleaned the fans while he was up in the rafters. Thanks, Guys!

Della's Birthday Mystery Lunch headed to Hilliard to the new Starliner Diner (serving Nancy's recipes). The company was delightful and the food was delicious! Happy Birthday Della!

Took a bus load north to Bucyrus. What a fun little town! We stopped at the Copper Kettle Works for a tour, LuLu's for a delicious lunch and Galion History Center for an overview of the history of the area. And, it was a beautiful day!

National Senior Health and Fitness Day 2024 is in the history books! Thanks to all the vendors that showed up to make this a fun and informative day for the participants. Special thanks go out to Africa, Amber Park, for supplying a healthy salad bar lunch; Bennie for teaching Tai Chi; and Marilyn for teaching line dance. You're the BEST!

🎉 Water lovers rejoice! 🌱 Reynoldsburg is taking another step towards sustainability! 🌍 Thanks to the Ohio EPA grant of $1.6 million for recycling and litter prevention in Central Ohio, our city has been awarded $9,373 specifically for water bottle refilling stations. This initiative is a fantastic step towards reducing plastic waste and promoting reusable alternatives. Let's continue to work together for a cleaner, greener future! 💚 🌱🌍

Let's Take a Hike took us to Chestnut Ridge Metro Park on Friday. The wild flowers are in full bloom. How many flowers can you name? How about the hikers, how many can you name?😁

Celebrated our 90+ Luncheon today with 33 of our nonagenarians. We also had 100 other young'uns celebrating with us. We even had one member that is almost 101 come for lunch today. Thanks to our Golden Clefs Chorus for the lovely entertainment; the SCOR kitchen crew and volunteers serving the food; and, a big thanks to Cherry Blossom for catering the event and Scarlet Home Health for the yummy cakes. What a fun day!

SCOR went on an adventure on April 8 to view the total eclipse at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. We couldn't go hungry so stopped at Amber Rose Restaurant to fuel up for the day. The total eclipse did not disappoint. Of course, when you are in that area of Ohio you have to stop at Young's Dairy. We did that too!

Loaded up the bus and headed to Worthington to tour the Orange Johnson House. The docents were dressed in period clothing and entertained us all during the tour. Thanks to the Worthington History group for their efforts in keeping history alive.

Had the pleasure of driving the Golden Clefs Chorus to a performance at The Forum at Knightsbridge. They looked great and sounded even better! Thanks to Director, Linda Williams, and our new Pianist, Karen Kent. Thank you all for bringing the joy of music to those not able to leave their homes.

Went to the Columbus Museum of Art for the Day. Happy Valentine's Day to all our SCOR members!

Last Reynoldsburg Community Band Concert of the year filled the senior center with holiday music! Thanks to all the volunteer band members for bringing joy into so many hearts! Special thanks to members Bill, Linda and Susie pictured with band director, Aaron.

Another fun and festive event that the Reynoldsburg Senior Center members participated in this season was Fa La Law performed by the volunteers with Vaud-Villities. Once again they put together a wonderful show. Thanks!

The TAT Familia Ristorante hosted our Annual Holiday Luncheon today. The food was extra delicious, the staff was exceptionally attentive and the attendees were especially festive. We had 125 special senior center members attend the event. Thanks to Bennie for all the door prizes. Also, thanks to Keaton who stayed at the senior center and held down the fort!

Had a big time at the Reynoldsburg Senior Center on Monday for the Thanksgiving Luncheon sponsored by Trilogy Communities. Thanks to Jaclyn and Devon for transporting food for 150 of our hungriest members. Before, during and after lunch we had a craft sale going on. Members came in early with their treasures and sold, sold, sold. To finish up the event, Jack Fox set up and played some good 'ole country music.

Thanks go out to Barbara Fritz (pictured center) for her years of service to the Reynoldsburg Senior Citizens Association Library. She shelved over 30,000 books during her stint as Librarian. Also pictured is Chet McMullen, Treasurer and Mary Theodoras, President.

Took a group to the Shephard's Ecological Center this week. It was a beautiful day to be outside learning about the center. There was a special guest, a llama!

Enjoyed a wonderful day with members in Union County, Ohio. We viewed the local covered bridges and had lunch on Pottersburg Bridge. Berbee Greenhouse was our next stop to learn about the flower bulb world. Then a last visit at Dalton's Winery and Brewery. Lovely Day!

Last month we had our Annual Reynoldsburg Cancer Thrift Store Fashion Show. Once again, we were awed and amazed by the beautiful outfits found at the store. Thanks to the Cancer Thrift Store, Cherry Blossom Communities, Cotner Funeral Home and all of our models that proudly shopped for the event.
