Thank you to the Wylie Public Library for opening their doors to Dementia Friendly Dallas to train their librarians. It was an emotional but necessary session talking about Dementia and how we can remove the stigma. It would be wonderful for a society to be more patient with those who have it and be supportive of families who are suffering as well because of it.
Welcome to our newest Dementia Friends - the Library Assistant Administrators of North Texas. Our volunteer, Amandita, facilitated a hybrid session - a combination of in person and friends on Zoom.
If you are interested in a Dementia Friend session for your group, contact us at [email protected] or to learn more, go to our website at www.dfdallas.org

Happy 1-Yr Anniversary Charley! What has Charley done at CarePatrol of NE Dallas in the past year? She has been instrumental in researching and setting-up provider information into our database and doing updates so our efficient machine of serving the clients can keep going. When we moved to the Northeast Dallas market, she has created new provider profiles so we can be ready to do business. She also toured some of our providers and gave us reports on how they operate. She has assisted us in events and prepared marketing items and materials, so all we had to do is grab-and-go during our busy days. Most importantly, Charley ensures that the information we share to clients about community State of TX violations and pricing are updated, so our clients or their families can make an informed decision where their loved one goes. Charley has the heart for our elderly, and she teaches us through her personal examples to focus on that mission.
We are hiring a community relations specialist for the Rockwall, Rowlett, Heath and Royse City areas. This is a highly flexible 20 to 30-hour role.
Our team is growing again!
For those interested in making the home, assisted living, church or organization dementia-friendly, here are some important design principles that you can incorporate. Simplicity and avoiding confusing patterns are some things to remember. For instance, do you know that carpets with big circles may look like holes to someone with dementia? The biggest factor is reducing stress. Halsall Lloyd Partnership is a great group of experts in designing these spaces.
Amandita Johnson, owner of CarePatrol of NE Dallas attended the Dementia Friendly Dallas Community Meeting on Feb 6, 2024. We are excited to be part of this important effort in educating ourselves and the community about how to be a Dementia Friend and Champion. If you're interested in becoming one, please check out their FB page. Thank you. https://www.facebook.com/DementiaFriendlyDallas
