Books are great sources of information, but we understand that the reality of caring for children may leave little time to read a book or participate in a traditional book club. Therefore, Big Blue Book Club presents SNACK Club, which stands for Supporting Nourished, Active Children in Kentucky. We welcome you to read along but are happy to do the reading for you! Our Extension specialists in child nutrition will share bite-sized tidbits of information about feeding children of all ages in a conversational format that you can digest through podcasts or videos at your convenience.

Register for this session at ukfcs.net/BBBCsnack We have a limited number of books available. Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get a copy. With or without a book, we encourage you to follow along with the discussions to give this format of book club a taste!

Heat impacts are expected today and Tuesday in eastern Kentucky due to the combination of high temperatures in the mid-90s and heat indices ranging from the upper 90s to the lower 100s. The heat will be most impactful to those in heat-sensitive occupations, as well as for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, young children and infants, as well as pets. Please use proper heat precautions such as drinking plenty of water and seeking shade when outdoors for prolonged periods of time. During hot and humid weather, your body's ability to cool itself is challenged. When your body heats too rapidly to cool itself properly, or when too much fluid or salt is lost through dehydration or sweating, you may experience a heat-related illness. Learn the symptoms of excessive heat exposure and the appropriate responses: weather.gov/safety/heat-illness
