What does ministry to the next generation look like, and how does the Alma Hunt Offering make that possible? We talked to Cadance Tyler about the ways that the Baptist General Association of Virginia - BGAV is approaching Next Gen ministry. Learn more or give to the Alma Hunt Offering at almahunt.org

One of the many ways the Alma Hunt Offering helps Virginia Baptists serve those in need is by providing financial support to Impact Missions Disaster Response (formerly Virginia Baptist Disaster Response). Impact Missions responds to natural disasters in both Virginia and around the country by training and equipping volunteers to help cook, offer clean-up and construction assistance, provide spiritual support through chaplains, and much more.

Your gifts to the Alma Hunt Offering help make this vital ministry possible. Learn more at https://impactmissionsmovement.org/disaster-response and join us in praying for these volunteers and the lives they impact.

For 150 years we've been committed to the cause of missions in our communities, state, and world. The Alma Hunt Offering for Virginia Missions is how that happens! Today is the first day of our Alma Hunt emphasis week, and churches around Virginia will collect funds that help us and the Baptist General Association of Virginia share the gospel, empower local ministry, and serve those in need. Each year, Baptists around Virginia donate to the Alma Hunt Offering for Virginia Missions. Alma Hunt was a native Virginian who was known worldwide for her missions service and her unwavering dedication to Christ. We sat down with Dr. Tom Stocks, Dr. Nathan Taylor, and Dr. Valerie Carter Smith to share more about who Miss Alma was and how her legacy continues to inspire us today.

Do you have an Alma Hunt memory or story? We'd love to read them in the comments!

Summer Missionary to CrossRoads, 23-year old, Leslie Chavez Garcia said farewell yesterday at RIC. Having spent the summer serving as Camp Missionary she then went to North Carolina to spend some days with friends. One other favorite pastimes while here was kyacking with Lucianne Warren’s family. Her time concluded in my home where she packed snack packs for children to distribute in needy neighborhoods. We took a tour of underserved neighborhoods where many spoke Spanish. Leslie took the lead in sharing with these families and she blessed the children by encouraging them with a snack and game pack. Littycia Clay-Crawley, WMUV Missions Strategist was on it in helping Leslie pack and prepare for her trip back to Peru!

A wonderful day with the Dover Baptist Associations WMU Missions Training. Emile Simpson coordinates these periodically. Beth Ward is the associational WMU Director. Speakers were my friend Sharon Pompelli who is with the IMB caring for retired missionaries and their families as well as connecting with WMU and I was the other speaker! 💕 Great questions were raised today! One sisters church has left the SBC and she wanted to be sure that her church would get their traditional offering envelopes. I reminded the audience that they only but need to let the WMUV office know how many of each of the three needs to be sent to their churches if in fact the church allows it after having left the SBC.

Grace Chinese Baptist Church is growing rapidly with internationals. The sanctuary is already not big enough! What a wonderful problem to have! Winnie Wang and her husband Carter are key leaders at the church. Winnie is also on the board of trustees for WMUV!

Hey, Roanoke Area Churches!

We're helping sponsor a Brazilian Soccer Camp with semi-pro players in Roanoke this July 9-12. These players have missional hearts, so kids in grades K-12 can learn about the gospel and Brazilian culture in addition to learning soccer skills. We want this camp to be accessible to anyone interested, so there's an option to waive the event cost at registration.

Spread the word to your local Roanoke churches, networks, community outreaches, and join us for a great week of soccer and Jesus!
