David T. Little's WHAT BELONGS TO YOU Premieres at Modlin Center for the Arts GRAMMY Award-nominated composer David T. Little has unveiled his latest work for the stage, an opera for tenor and chamber orchestra in three parts based on Garth Greenwell's critically acclaimed debut novel, What Belongs to You.
Modlin's 2024-25 season opens with the world premiere of "What Belongs to You", an operatic adaptation of Garth Greenwell's novel by the same name. Mark Morris directs the opera, with music and libretto by David T. Little.
Don't miss your chance to experience this stunning story, which explores the ways our pasts and cultures, our scars and shames can shape who we are and determine how we love. Karim Sulayman, tenor portrays the protagonist over the lush score performed by chamber orchestra Alarm Will Sound.

The Modlin Center for the Arts, which opened in 1996, features state-of-the-art performance venues, galleries, studios, and classrooms. Praised as "a work of art itself"​ by the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the 165,000-square-foot facility is home to the renowned Modlin Arts Presents series, as well as the University of Richmond departments of art and art history, music, and theatre and dance.
The Modlin Center for the Arts presents more than 40 world-class performing arts events as part of the ModlinArts Presents Series, five productions presented by the Department of Theatre and Dance and the University Players and Dancers, and another 23 music performances as part of the Department of Music's annual free concert series. Many of the events presented at the Modlin Center feature an academic component designed specifically for Richmond students. These activities, which are free and open to the public, include master classes and lecture demonstrations, as well as pre-concert and exhibition lectures.
