Las Flores PTO Endorses SSUSD's School Bond Measure AA

RIDGECREST, SEPTEMBER 10, 2024 – The Las Flores Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the educational experience at Las Flores Elementary School, is proud to announce its support for the Sierra Sands Unified School District Repairs/ Safety Measure - Measure “AA”, which will be on local ballots this November.

Since 2002, Las Flores PTO has worked closely with Las Flores Elementary, supporting students and staff through ongoing fundraising efforts to provide additional equipment, resources, services, and special projects. In alignment with our mission to advocate for improved educational experiences for all Las Flores students, we strongly believe that Measure AA presents a vital opportunity for our community and schools.

If enacted, Measure AA will unlock over $100 million in federal funding from the Department of Defense (DoD). The DoD funds require that SSUSD has approximately 20% of matching funds available, while the DoD will cover the remaining 80%. Without the passage of Measure AA this November, this extraordinary opportunity to secure funding will be lost.

The school district has prioritized the rebuilding of one or two of its older campuses, while also addressing urgent infrastructure needs and upgrades at the other SSUSD schools. This infusion of funding will significantly improve local school facilities, benefiting current and future generations of students.

Las Flores PTO stands in support of Measure AA for two main reasons:
1. The opportunity to secure $100 million in funding to invest in our schools is remarkable and truly once-in-a-lifetime.

2. The relatively minimal impact on local property taxes for homeowners makes this a highly advantageous way to invest in our children’s education and the future of our community.

We believe that improved school facilities will enhance the educational environment and additionally help recruit and retain top-tier educators, which will ultimately benefit not only our students but also the broader community.

We urge all voters to consider the long-term benefits of Measure AA and to vote Yes on Measure AA this November. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of our students and the future of our schools.

Each gram includes a note and pencil. These will be delivered to teachers on Tuesday morning. Online orders close tomorrow, Sunday, at 11:59 pm.

For just $20 (regardless of class size) - You can sponsor a tie-dyed pencil for each student in an entire class. Gram Note Not Included.

In preparation for the upcoming school year, we want to ensure all little lions and their families know about TK and Kindergarten Orientation, which is only 12 days away.
