While Riverside County BOS fails to face facts about Prop 36 the Southern California Newsgroups don't appear to have the same problem....they are urging a NO on Prop 36!! Why? Because it's a Prison Spending Scam and families are still digging themselves out of the hellhole created by the first drug war...Prop 36 is not the answer
Endorsement: No on Proposition 36, a revival of failed and unjust policies This measure might be a great job protection program for the California prison guards union, but it’s not good policymaking.
An apology is empty without action. Your apology is duly noted, but we really want to see what you do... beyond the apology. What about ending the harm. Prop 36 is a rollback to more state sanctioned harm under the guise of public safety. Prop 36 is a prison scam to rob our communities of precious resources. If you acknowledge the harm, show that you want to repair that harm. Invest in the people that have been harmed. Stop the harm at the source.
ARRT Alliance for Reparations, Reconciliation, and Truth
These deaths cannot be politicized, and the Sheriff's pattern of pointing to community advocates and organizers as a way to deflect from this unacceptable yet continuing reality offers no cover. We deserve better than this, and we demand accountability now!!! Law enforcement cannot be judge, jury, and executioner. This has been proven throughout history. These abuses and failures of authority defy the constitutional protections afforded to all.

In courtrooms across the country, small groups of community members are fighting back against the legal systems that oppress us. Whether it is through courtwatch or participatory defense, communities are putting the legal system on notice. Judges, prosecutors, and other court actors, who are used to operating with impunity and are now facing community oversight, are doing everything they can to stop it. Despite this opposition, the community refuses to be silenced.
Join us Monday for a webinar on how communities are resisting the family and criminal court systems, how the systems respond, and what organizers are doing to overcome this.
