Here is a video of Chuck Laws giving a demonstration on his sit ski. Smooth as glass and if you notice his bucket is covered with stickers from the places he had skied.
We will all miss his energy, smile, talent, and friendship.
Yesterday we lost one of our Adaptive Ski Instructors. Chuck Laws was a mono skier who was with us for a number of years. Due to ill health he hasnβt been with us the last several years.
He worked with our very first sit skier and it was amazing to watch him teach the Veteran and connect with him on a level that able bodied skiers could not.
We called him as Chuckles because he always had a smile, a story to tell, and a love of life.
He will be missed. Our love goes out to his family and friends.
He will watch over us next ski season and will be with several
other instructors who have gone before him.
Rest In Peace, my friend.
On this Memorial Day, let us remember all of those men and women who gave their lives so that we are able to enjoy the freedoms we have in this country today. God Bless Them All!

Have a wonderful day. We are thankful for all the Veterans who served to protect our nation and give us the freedoms we enjoy today. Bless you all!
Sadly we have lost another ski instructor. Bob Thomas was a member of our original group of ski instructors who started out with the OASIS program. He became Adaptive Certified in the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA). A few years ago he became ill and was no longer to ski with us, but his heart was always with us. He was a huge supporter of OASIS and our Vets.
Calling hours are Saturday, December 4 from 2-4 pm at the Fuller Funeral Home in Canandaigua, NY.
Please enjoy this video of him teaching one of our Vets. She had never skied before and was scared to death of sliding! Bob and his co-instructor worked so hard with her. She went on to graduate from several OASIS sports, and the program changed her life
forever.
Bob will be skiing with us in spirit and watching over us. RIP
A special thank you to all Veterans β€οΈβ€οΈ

We are back at Bristol Mountain with our snowsports program. Only a few vets this year, but we are so happy to have the Vets who participated in last year's program return.
Thanks to Dan Fuller at Bristol for allowing us to return even with all the Covid restrictions.
The new owners of Lock, Stock & Barrel Restaurant on Route 64 near Bristol Mt. are hanging stockings for nonprofit organizations and reached out to us.
So stop by and patronize them and add a little donation!
Happy Holidays to all!
In these COVID times when life is challenging, Think of happy times and be grateful that we live in this country with Veterans who have protected us. Thank you, Vets. Happy Thanksgiving wherever you are celebrating!
The OASIS Family
A special Happy Veteranβs to those we serve at OASIS Adaptive Sports. It has our privilege and honor to have fun with you in our programs.
We have become a family, and it has been a special way for our instructors and volunteers to give back to you in thanks for your personal sacrifices!
Looking forward to serving more Vets in the future!
Thank you to all who served and protected our country so that we could enjoy our freedom.
Very sad news. Tony Annis (2nd from right) passed away today from at heart attack. He has been a ski instructor for our OASIS family for years. He also previously taught skiing at Bristol and was a former member of the Ski Patrol at Bristol and Brantling. We will miss his smile and willingness to help out our Veterans. Our condolences go out to his wife Joyce and Family. He will be missed.
Jerry was a friend of the OASIS family at Bristol. He assisted our Vets and ski instructors in getting to places on the mountain to ski. He was always just a phone call away and never said no! He will be missed.

The world is a little less bright this morning with the passing of former Eastern Division Director and National Awards Advisor Jerry Sherman. Jerry passed away unexpectedly in his sleep last night. Jerry was highly respected throughout the Eastern Division and across the National Ski Patrol world as a highly accomplished patroller and administrator, as well as a really good and nice person. He is well loved by those of us who knew and worked with him, and we will miss him tremendously. Our condolences and warm wishes for strength and peace go out to his wife Carole and his family in this very difficult time.
The relapse and overdose rate has increased by 30% since March 2020. Mental health issues related to our lock down and the pandemic are especially hard for people with depression. NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Health has a 24-hour helpline: 1-800-950-6264.
Now, Iβm asking my small corner of FB to follow suit: Could any two of my Facebook friends just copy and repost to share the helpline far and wide?
Just two. Any two. Say done.
We are BACK!!! YAY!!! Our horsemanship program has been running for several weeks and our sailing program has just begun. So good to be getting our Vets back outside again!
Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who lost their lives for our freedom. Please take a moment to remember those who have given us so much.

Today we worked with a Vet who had to face her fears of going up a chair lift and skiing down a slope that terrified her. We are happy to report that the first run was a little rough, but the second run was wonderful. She even had smiles at the end!
Congrats on a job well done and most of all for conquering your fears!
Please join us on Thursday, 3/5 Bristol Mountain Resort, for a fun day to honor two of our instructors who passed away from cancer three years ago.
John Faulkner and John Rossettie were two dedicated instructors at Bristol and for OASIS as volunteers. This our 3rd annual - Take a run for 'JOHN' Memorial Fundraiser. Take a run in their honor and a suggested donation of $1 per run goes towards the OASIS Snowsports Program.
The weather is supposed to be sunny again, so join us for the festivities. We will have representatives at the COMET EXPRESS 10:00 am - 1:00pm.
Sadly James Hager passed away from cancer before Christmas. He was in our Snowsports, Sailing, and Archery programs. On Tuesday, February 25, at 1:30, there will be a memorial service at the Canandaigua VA, Building 5 for anyone who wants to attend.
He was a wonderful man who found happiness participating in our sports. We already miss his smiling face at Bristol Mountain. Rest in peace, James.
Yesterday Local 86 Electricians Union sponsored an ice fishing fundraiser for OASIS on Sodus Bay. Many thanks to Ian Glaser for hosting this event on such a beautiful day!
