D-Day + 80 years

80 years ago today, thousands of young men from around the world undertook the largest and most audacious water landing in history.

Today, we honor the courage and sacrificce of those brave souls who stormed the beaches of Normandy. We remember their valor and courage in the face of what seemed impossible. We remember the price of freedom.

Let us never forget the sacrifices made on those shores, and let us continue to honor those heroes by committing to upholding the values of freedom and democracy they so selflessly fought for.

On this Memorial Day, let us pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Each fallen hero left behind a legacy of valor and selflessness, and it is our duty to keep their memories alive.

My son's school is celebrating St. Patrick's Day today, so maybe I am off the hook?

In all seriousness though, whatever it takes to get kids interested in history again, I support it. History is the real life drama you can read about, watch on tv, or listen to in podcasts. Bringing that drama to life, and getting more kids intersted in where we have been will inspire them to make history of their own.

St. Stanislaus Kostka Church is an old, and incredibly beautiful historic Roman Catholic Church on the Northwest side of the City of Rochester. While many of the people who built the neighborhood have left, St. Stan's has stayed and continues to support the local community.

There really isn't anywhere lower to go if you are resorting to robbing a church. I pray that people in the community who know about this will do the right thing, and help the St. Stan's parish recover the stolen items.

I was hopeful when I initially opened this article. Maybe the housing market is course correcting since the massive verdict against the National Association of Realtors. Wouldn't it be great if housing was more affordable?

People in the industry will say a drop that big is huge. But for people out in the real world struggling to buy groceries, this "plunge" will barely take the edge off.

Anyone else think this won't make much of a difference in the housing market?

It is certainly possible that the Board receievd a credible threat of some kind that would necessitate postponing a business meeting. But if the only reason is due to feelings of being uncomfortable with increased attendance and angry parents, that is a complete cop out.

If you haven't been following, a local school's undefeated football season was abruptly ended amid allegations of bullying, and perhaps other things, all of which were caught on camera. The District, correctly citing to , has been unable to really comment on what happened, or what the discipline will be for the students involved. All we have seen is some speculation and commentary from parents in the District that claim to know "something."

This is an incident that highlights one of a few select issues in education that really get people emotional. Sports. If this was the chess team, it is likely fewer people would be demanding answers.

Hopefully the Board is able to conduct their meeting next week without incident

It's wonderful to see Holy Cross in Rochester organizing a fundraiser to purchase a new grand piano. This initiative coincides with an exciting moment in my family as my son embarks on his first piano lessons. The timing couldn't be more perfect. It's heartwarming to witness the support and investment in music education within our community. The new grand piano will undoubtedly enhance the learning experience for all the aspiring pianists at Holy Cross. We are grateful for this opportunity and look forward to the positive impact it will have on my son's preschool musical journey.
