I stopped thinking of exercise as work and learned something amazing 06/09/2024

I prefer using the term "movement" instead of "exercise" when talking about physical activity. Although I can't run, I engage in Tai Chi/Qigong movements. I may need to adjust my practice at times, but I still experience the mental and physical benefits.

I stopped thinking of exercise as work and learned something amazing Some doubt whether physical activity can actually improve your mood but I know that it can.

Tai Chi not only nurtures physical health but also fosters profound social connections. Practitioners often gather in parks or community centers, forming tight-knit communities bound by a shared appreciation for balance, harmony, and inner peace. Whether exchanging gentle smiles during practice or engaging in post-session discussions, the Tai Chi community exemplifies the power of human connection, promoting an overall sense of well-being. Please feel free to join our friendly group at any time.

A group from New Brunswick, Canada. Sifu Walter Tait is kneeling in the front row between the two ladies. Grand Master D**g Zeng-Chen is in the middle. Walter's wife, Trude, is in the back row, second from right. I know Walter passed on quite a while back. Unfortunately, I've lost touch with all the others, but they were a great group of people.

This is probably mid-1990s. I was practicing White Crane Kung Fu forms for a while with Sifu Hanting Shen. Sifu is in the middle, her husband Iching Shen on the right, and I'm on the left. We were all living in South Lake Tahoe CA. Those were fun times and life was good.

Long-term tai chi may slow Parkinson’s, lower medication need 02/15/2024

There are quite a few articles on the internet about an October 2023 study concerning Parkinson's Disease and tai chi exercise. I picked this article because it was easier reading.

Long-term tai chi may slow Parkinson’s, lower medication need Practicing long-term tai chi may slow down the progression of both motor and nonmotor symptoms of Parkinson’s, and reduce medication doses.

Good day! I hope you are all doing well. I wanted to let you know that our tai chi classes are still ongoing. We meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 AM to 11 AM. Our group may be small, but I can assure you that everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming. These classes are designed to reduce stress and provide a refreshing exercise routine for both the mind and body. I strive to make sure that there is something for everyone in each session, accommodating various levels of expertise and interest. For nearly two decades, I have been teaching tai chi in Rochester and surrounding areas. Unfortunately, a few years ago, I developed neuropathy in my feet and hands, which has affected my balance. However, I persistently practice tai chi and truly believe that it has allowed me to maintain my mobility. The form I currently teach is known as the Simplified Form, created by Master Alex D**g. Unlike other forms, it does not involve kicks, spins or low postures, making it suitable for most individuals. Rest assured, all the benefits of tai chi are still effectively incorporated in this Simplified Form. As we begin the New Year, it is the perfect time to prioritize your health and well-being. So why not give tai chi a try? Feel free to join us for a couple of complimentary classes and experience the positive impact it can make on your life. We are located at the James W. Foley Memorial Community Center, Suite 205, which can be found at 150 Wakefield St. (behind Spaulding High School) in Rochester, NH 03867. If you have any further inquiries or would like to contact me directly, please reach out to Andy at (603) 397-2140 or email [email protected]. You can also find more information about our organization, New England Wellness and Martial Arts (NEWMA). I look forward to seeing you in class and embarking on this healthy journey together!
