Nursing Services / COVID-19 Information 03/20/2020

Dear Phoenix Family,

We hope you and yours are doing well. Please know that we are doing everything we can to help students achieve success during this difficult and unprecedented time. Thank you for your patience.

Because our program is mastery-based and online, we have a bit more flexibility than those at the traditional schools. That being said, this is NOT an extended spring break--students are expected to progress in their courses and check in with their teachers, who will have posted their expectations and "office hours" for the week.

Your teachers urge students to check GradPoint announcements and to check emails regularly. PLEASE send teachers an email so they can communicate easily.

Pasted below is information from RHSD regarding assistance and meals.

If you need assistance, please contact us at [email protected] or call our dedicated phone support hotline, 803-980-2016 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. on weekdays. We will work with our team members to retrieve items from your child’s school and, when possible, coordinate delivery to your home.

Our free “grab and go” meal service will continue Monday through Friday at five school locations throughout this closure. Breakfast will be available between 8 – 10 a.m. and lunch will be available between 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Meals will be available to all children 18 years of age and younger. To pick up a meal, please visit the location most convenient to you. Children must be present with a parent or guardian to receive a free meal.
• Belleview Elementary, 501 Belleview Road
• Finley Road Elementary, 1089 Finley Road
• Richmond Drive Elementary, 1162 Richmond Drive
• Rosewood Elementary, 2240 Rosewood Drive
• Oakdale Elementary, 1129 Oakdale Road

We have expanded our “grab and go” meal service to seven community locations, and will offer meals on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the community sites. At each location, meals will be distributed from a Wi-Fi equipped school bus at each location. Students at each site will be able to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots as need to work on eLearning assignments.
• College Downs Park
• Boyd Hill Park
• Freedom Park
• Southland Park
• Confederate Park
• Arcade Victoria Park
• Catawba Indian Reservation Long House

Additionally, students who receive food assistance through the district’s Back the Pack program will continue to receive bags each Friday during the closure. We appreciate our team members who are making this possible.

Moving forward, our school and district administrative staff will be working virtually and have office hours between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. to provide assistance to our community. Throughout eLearning, our teachers will also hold office hours to provide assistance to students. Teacher office hours have been shared with students and families through communication from your child’s teacher and school.

We will maintain regular communication with our families in the weeks ahead and provide updates and adjustments to our schedule as we have additional information to share. Please continue to visit our website at www.rock-hill.k12.sc.us/coronavirus and connect with the district on its social media platforms, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram for updates.

Again, we thank you for your patience as we share additional information in the days ahead. These are unprecedented and challenging times, but working together as One Team on One Mission for One Rock Hill we will get through this as a community.

What is Phoenix Academy?

Phoenix Academy serves students who are enrolled in Rock Hill School District 3 high schools; it is not a private or charter school, but a public education institution. There is no tuition fee as we are part of the Rock Hill School District.

The curriculum is presented through a virtual medium with teacher assistance. All teachers are highly qualified and certified in the content area in which they teach. Phoenix Academy also offers flexible scheduling that can accommodate numerous student schedules.

Evening classes make it possible for students to continue taking classes at their home high school during the day while attending Phoenix in the evening. The evening sessions also allow us to meet the needs of students that may work full-time during the day or who may be the primary child caregiver for their child.
