First day of classes is right around the corner, and we can't wait to get back to singing this semester!

A huge congratulations to Jaylin Brown, Josiah Johnson Mackenzie Mackie, Jacin Prevatte, and Nathan Wheaton on being selected to sing in the next round of NATS. This June, they will be traveling to Knoxville, TN to participate in the National Semi-finals! These students are among the top 15 in the nation in their category. Congratulations to these fine Winthrop Singers!

Congratulations to our senior music education major, Emma Swire-Clark, on a successful masterclass! She was one of 3 undergraduate students in the Southern Region selected to participate in the 2024 ACDA: Southern Region Conducting Masterclass. She did a wonderful job and represented our choirs and university well! We are so proud of all she has accomplished!

Homecoming Choir 2023 Schedule draft: November 10 4:30 casual early dinner (TBD) 6-8 pm rehearsal 8-? Social hour November 11 8:30 am rehearsal; 10:00 am concert (Location TBD)

As we prepare for students to return, the officers are getting 315 ready. Bring on the choral placements this weekend!

We are incredibly excited to announce that Winthrop University Chamber Singers have been invited to perform at the 2024 South Carolina Music Educator Association conference in February. We are very honored to be the only university performing for the music educators in our state! Please help us in congratulating our wonderful singers, and our fantastic Director, Dr.Jeremy Mims!

A few weeks ago some of our singers had the opportunity to perform Mozarts Requiem conducted by our very own Jeremy Mims in Varna, Bulgaria! Here’s a few pictures of their adventures!

Our third Senior Spotlight is Nevaeh Woolens. Nevaeh graduated this Spring with her Bachelors in Musical Theatre!

After graduation, Nevaeh has accepted a performer contract at Dollywood Entertainment!

While at Winthrop Nevaeh participated in our Chorale as an Alto!

One of her favorite pieces was “ a strong tie between It Is Well and Song of Miriam! Beautiful arrangements with special meanings that I needed to hear. Both songs talk about dealing with inner anxieties and taking that step forward for ourselves. I needed to hear both of those songs by the time we performed them, specifically Song of Miriam was very special to me 🤍”

When asked about her favorite memory she said “Chorale tour this year was hands down one of my favorite memories from my college journey. Our song choices were really strong and it was a good group. it was a packed couple days of traveling and singing, but I truly loved every moment.”

We are so grateful to be a part of her performance journey and wish her good luck in the future!

Our second Senior Spotlight is Will Cosper. Will is graduating with his Bachelors of Music Education, Choral focus, K-12.

After graduation, he will be teaching at North Elementary School!

While at Winthrop Will participated in Chorale, Chamber Singers, and also Inspirar!

One of Will’s favorite pieces he performed at Winthrop was “Make Them Hear You” by Lynn Ahrens!

We are very proud of him and wish him the best as he starts his 1st year teaching!

We would like to take a moment to highlight our recent Winthrop Choir graduates!!

Our first Senior Spotlight is Paul Malina. He is graduating with his Master of Arts in Teaching, Choral Music, K-12.

After graduation, he will be teaching high school choir in North Carolina!

While at Winthrop Paul participated in Collegiate Choir, Chorale, Chamber Singers, and also Inspirar!

One of Paul’s favorite pieces he performed at Winthrop was “O sing my soul” by Jacob Narverud!

We are very proud of him and wish him good luck in his future endeavors!

As we end the school year we would like to extend a special 🎉Congratulations🎉 to this years recipient of the Kinsey Choral Excellence Scholarship, Emma Swire-Clark. Emma Swire-Clark is a Junior Choral Music Education major who is extremely involved on our campus. She is a member of Chorale, Chamber Singers, and plays flute in the Wind Symphony. She also holds leadership roles in Teaching Fellows, Sigma Alpha Iota, ACDA, and previously in the Winthrop NAfME chapter as well. We are so proud of her and wish her a wonderful end to the year!
