Greetings from the Winthrop University Clarinet Studio! Winthrop University has identified the arts as one of its areas of excellence.
Winthrop offers four undergraduate and three graduate music degree programs, as well as extensive opportunities for performance in one of our many and varied ensembles, in a liberal arts setting. Our music programs are accredited nationally by the National Association of Schools of Music (since 1940), the National Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

On May 21, 2024 Superintendent Jessica Williams recognized the 2023-2024 CCSD Rookie Teachersof the Year . The District Rookie Teacher of the Year is : Miss Taylor Fussell -Forest Hills Elementary.
Before the new year begins, we would like to congratulate our recent graduates, including Ms. Madeline Bailes, who was named Teacher of the Year.........

And Sophomore Proficiency was passed!
We all made it to the last day, and all juries were successful!
Congratulations to Katelyn, who presented her Honors Program Culminating Experience project during SOURCE (Showcase Of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors) last week. Her composition, "A Sailor's Journey," was performed by the Clarinet Choir in beautiful McBryde Hall.
Congratulations to Logan for the successful world premiere of "Shades of Red," and congratulations to Clarinet Choir for a great concert!

Oh, what a night!
Logan had a special opportunity on Wednesday. Wind Symphony read "Nebula," his new composition for clarinet and wind ensemble. Jada performed the solo clarinet part. Congratulations to Logan and Jada, and many thanks to Dr. Lorrie Crochet for the opportunity!

Clarinet students are preparing for our studio recital next month.
Congratulations to Jada, who was selected for the SC Intercollegiate Honor Band this year, which took place during the annual SCMEA convention!
Cheers to Baten, who moves on to her full-time internship next semester!
....and then it was time for the last concert of the semester and our annual "Tree" picture!
.....our chamber groups played for the Invitational Band Clinic students during the clarinet master class......
......then Wind Symphony went on tour.....
November was busy! Logan and Jada got to play Fingal's Cave in the Symphony Orchestra concert......
Now all freshmen have had their Rep class debut!
Our freshmen are performing for the first time in Rep!
Jury prep has begun! We are very fortunate to have Dr. Ryan Smith serving as our studio pianist. Welcome, Dr. Smith!
