The Children’s Advocacy of Brevard is hosting their 3rd annual painting for a purpose on Saturday June 10, 2017 Check in is 9:30 and painting begins promptly at 10am. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month!
To promote awareness of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Child Abuse Prevention Task Force of Brevard County will host several events and activities to spread a community-wide message that everyone can help prevent child abuse and neglect. The official kick-off for the month’s events and awareness-raising campaign will take place on Saturday, April 1st from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Squid Lips Overwater Grill – 1477 Pineapple Avenue, Melbourne. The event will include activities for children, family entertainment and a presentation of the Pinwheels for Prevention truck. Brevard County Commissioner Curt Smith will be reading a proclamation issued by the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners declaring April Child Abuse Prevention Month in Brevard. Squid Lips will donate a portion of the proceeds from all food sales during the event.
Had a great time supporting the Guardian ad Litem Program and secured a first place win as well!

The Brevard County Dental Society is participating in the American Dental Association’s annual national event Give Kids a Smile. On February 4th 2017 from 8am-4pm, Brevard County dentists will provide free oral health care services to underserved children in the area. The event will be held at the Eastern Florida State College Dental Clinic – Cocoa Campus (1519 Clearlake Road, Cocoa FL 32922, Building 20 Health Sciences Room 111B).
THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR EXAMINATION & TREATMENT!
Your child may qualify if the following apply:
- Your family is financially disadvantaged
- Your child does not have dental insurance
- Your child is not currently under the care of a dentist
- Your child does not qualify for Medicaid or Florida Healthy Kids

Calling all Superheroes! Join the race against child abuse. The Superhero 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run takes place on February 4, 2017 in Viera, Florida. If you can’t make it to the physical race, you can still support the cause by participating virtually. This virtual race is a family friendly event that benefits abused and neglected children. Dress as your favorite Superhero (optionally) and run or walk whenever and wherever you want to earn this awesome 4-inch Superhero medal! Virtual runners will also receive a custom race bib.
