Deer hunting season starts this Saturday. If you are a hunter, know a hunter, or know a landowner that hosts hunters, The Ministerial Alliance Food Bank here in Junction and others across Texas need your help. We are currently unable to get meat through either of the major service centers: the San Antonio Food Bank or the Concho Valley Food Bank in San Angelo due to severe shortages. Many deer processors participate in programs such as "Hunters for the Hungry" or "Hunters Fighting Hunger" where hunters can donate venison to food banks. Hunters donate the deer and a special low processing fee to cover costs (usually $50 or less). Please encourage the hunters you know (especially if they are only looking for trophy mounts) to consider sharing this season's hunt with those in need. Thank you. (copied)
