This Halloween, students from the College of Information at College Park and Shady Grove campuses came together for the annual Maryland Initiative for Digital Accessibility (MIDA) Accessibility Design Challenge! π οΈβ¨ In teams, they designed amazing tools to support their peers, from accessible bridges to a smart classroom chair and even an automated mobility suit!

π Last week, we hosted an inspiring Senior Panel Discussion where our amazing students shared their summer 2024 internship journeys at top organizations like Amazon, IBM, the State Department, and the Office of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs! πΊπΈπ»
Our seniors spoke about where they searched for internships, their experiences with the application and interview processes, and what their day-to-day looked like at their internships. They also highlighted the valuable on-campus resources and activities theyβve engaged in during their time in the program.
We are so proud of their accomplishments and canβt wait to see what they achieve next!

1. The undergraduate minor in Risk Management, Ethics, and Privacy is designed to prepare students to evaluate major information and big data privacy and security issues that businesses and individuals are faced with.
2. The undergraduate minor in Technology Innovation Leadership prepares students to effectively create and navigate a climate of technological innovation within an organization or team. π‘π» By combining creative leadership, design thinking, and understanding socio-technical challenges, students will tackle large-scale problems relating to technology innovation. ππ‘ Innovative thinking approaches incorporated into the curriculum allow students to create new ideas and energy and solve socio-technical challenges through leadership experiences. π‘πͺ

We had an amazing time running a simulation for the Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) high schoolers, teaching them how to create their own simple chatbot. It was inspiring to see their creativity and enthusiasm in action.
