🌊⚓️ Celebrating Tartan Day with a salute to our Seabee heritage! 🐝
Did you know that the iconic Seabee Tartan, designed by Arthur Mackie and Lieutenant Lee Josselyn, was born from the collaborative spirit of the early 1990s? As a detachment of Seabees stationed at RAF Edzell in Scotland, LT Josselyn's passion sparked the tradition of wearing tartan among those connected with the Seabees.
Each color in the Tartan represents a Seabee core value:
🔵 Dark Blue Stripe: "The Navy we proudly serve"
🔹 Light Blue Stripe: "The Oceans we've crossed"
🟤 Brown Stripe: "The Mountains we've moved"
🔴 Red Stripe: "The Blood nobly shed"
🟡 Yellow Cross check: "The Twinkle in every Seabee's eye"
The stripes come together to form a block pattern representing the multiple building blocks of the Seabees and the SEABEE "CAN DO" spirit.
Let's honor our proud heritage and the legacy -- share your Seabee tartan story and photos in the comments. Happy Tartan Day, Seabees! 🎉
