Dear ECE Graduate Student,
Congratulations! As a graduate student in good academic standing, we would like to commend you on your hard work here at Missouri S&T. We would also like to extend an official invitation to become a member of Eta Kappa Nu, the International IEEE Honor Society.
Our organization is dedicated to encouraging and recognizing excellence in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and other IEEE fields. We create opportunities for our members to network with businesses and industry professionals, contribute to the community, advance their skills, and become part of a highly prestigious group of electrical and computer engineers located throughout the world.
Requirements are as follows:
• Recommendation from a current faculty member
• Completion of a minimum of 2 hours of service activities. (Service hours with other organizations may be approved).
• Attendance at a minimum of 1 Chapter meetings or other non-service activity.
• Complete a brief HKN Background exam.
• Payment of the IEEE-HKN induction fee and the local induction fee.
• Attendance at the IEEE-HKN induction ceremony.

Gamma Theta Senior Represents College at Graduation
Christian Winingar, electrical engineering senior, was one of two students to represent the College of Engineering and Computing as Mace Bearer at the December Commencement of the Missouri University of Science and Technology. Christian was selected due to his campus involvement including service as president of the Gamma Theta Chapter of IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu and as past commander of the campus Sigma Nu Fraternity. Congratulations.
Dr. Sandra Magnus Receives IEEE-HKN Eminent Member Designation
Dr. Sandra Magnus, former NASA astronaut and NAE member, has been honored with the IEEE-HKN Eminent Member Designation at the IEEE Educational Activities (EA) Awards Ceremony on November 17, 2023, in Washington, DC.
This recognition, the highest within the IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) honor society, has been awarded to only 144 individuals since its establishment in 1950. S&T has had only one other alumni to receive this honor (Mervin Kelly in the 1950’s).
Dr. Magnus received BS Physics and MS Electrical Engineering degrees from Missouri S&T and was inducted into the Missouri S&T HKN chapter as a professional member in 2011. At 2023, on behalf of the student chapter, nominated her for the IEEE-HKN Eminent Member Designation.
