Unofficial Baltimore County Fire Department Station 16
Welcome to the unofficial page of Baltimore County Fire Department Station 16. The Golden Ring Stat "Lets Roll"
3 years ago Engine 16 A shift was called to help in Baltimore city during the riots. E16s crew responded to multiple fires during the night of the unrest. FADO Jimmy Weis pictured here retired soon after the riots and unfortunately lost a battle with cancer within a year of retirement. We all miss Jimmy and still carry his PAT tag on the engine as a way to remember a great man.
Last night Engine 16 was alerted for a commercial truck fire on Interstate 695. Engine 15 was also alerted to cover the opposite lane. E-16 arrived on location to find a rollback truck well involved. E15 blocked traffic to provide safety for the fire attack. E16s crew stretched a the “bumper line” and brought the fire under control.
After 32 1/2 years of service to the citizens of Baltimore County, Captain Fred “Lets Roll” Rafferty decided to hang his gear up for the last time. It was a bittersweet day today at the 16 house, but the members of B shift wish Cap a happy retirement.
Just before 8 pm on Monday, E16 was alerted for a working trash fire in e57s district which is where the fire rescue academy is located. First arriving units found a football field size area full of appliances and debris about 50 feet high well involved. Water supply was first concern, due to no fire hydrants in the area. E16 dropped about 1,100 feet of its supply line and was used as one of the main attack engines on the fire. Baltimore city fireboats were able to supply multiple master streams which was a huge advantage in getting the fire under control.
This morning B shift was alerted for a Motor Vehicle Collision with Rescue along interstate 95. While enroute the crew was updated that lumber had come off a truck and came through a bus a pinned the driver. E16 arrived to find hundreds of pieces of lumber scattered across the highway and a piece of lumber had come through the front of an MTA bus. Luckily the bus driver sustained very minor injuries.
At around 5:45 pm this evening E16 (D shift) were alerted for a dwelling fire in the 6200 Block of Radecke Ave in Rosedale. Upon arrival E16 found heavy fire conditions to the rear of the dwelling.
Yesterday B shift spent the morning doing hydrant training and pump operations
Members of D shift are currently operating on a 2 alarm fire in a commercial auto/tire shop.

Never Forget!!
Today past and present members of station 16-B along with family and friends met at Dulaney Memorial Gardens to pay tribute to one of our fallen brothers. Today marked 6 years since the passing of Mark Falkenhan who passed while conducting a search on a multi-alarm apartment fire. Mark spent several years as a member of Station 16. May we always remember our fallen brothers, and Never Forget their sacrifice.

Every day is an adventure, especially in the Fire Service, walked into Station 16 tonight to be greeted by several brave military vets who are walking from Atlantic City to San Francisco (3,091 miles) “routeforthebrave.org” and they thanked our crews for the job we do. How humble is that? It’s actually the other way around my friends, Thank You for service and protecting us.
Last night the members of 16-B shift said their "see ya arounds" to one of their own. Fire Specialist Adam Lublinksy is transferring to 8-C (Fullerton).
