Happy Father's Day to all those who have helped in the past and continue to help us along the way. Without Band Dads we'd be lost. True to their nature they are usually behind the scenes (one of the reasons this post took so long to create since they aren't pictured often) but they are the backbone to our families, but most especially our Band Family. Thank you for all you do, even when we do not see you doing it.

Enjoy your special day!

Early Band Camp is complete! Our 2024 season looks promising with the addition of some great new marchers. These kids went right to work the very first day of summer vacation. Now they get to have a bit of a summer recess where they can work on their individual or section parts. We'll see you back for Traditional Band camp bright and early on July 22nd.

Current member families, take a look at all of the shots from early band camp on our lakeparkband.com site. You can download or print for super cheap prices. Just page down to the SmugMug logo on our home page. Here's just some of the ones that recapped these two weeks.

Band builds better people. It really does. Music ensembles of any kind, for that matter.

It was in band I discovered I had a voice that was valued and part of a much bigger whole.

It was in band I discovered my confidence - both musical and personal.

It was in band I discovered the importance of discipline, focus, and selflessness.

It was in band I discovered there were other people just like me.

It was in band I discovered I was good at something.

It was in band I discovered that hard work pays off.

It was in band I discovered how to interact and work with people of all ages.

It was in band I discovered how my actions impact others.

It was in band I discovered how to manage my nerves.

It was in band I discovered the sheer joy of making music with others.

It was in band I discovered that being prepared isn’t always enough.

It was in band I discovered how to deal with making mistakes.

It was in band I discovered how awesome making music with other people is.

It was in band I discovered myself.

It was in band I discovered my calling.

It is in band that I always have a source of comfort, a family, and a sanctuary away from the world around me.

Band helped to build the best version of me.

Happy Mother's Day to all those current, past and future band moms out there. For all the drop offs, late night pick ups, the hauling of band instruments, the cheers from the stands, especially on Friday nights when not everyone is paying attention, thank you! For all the moms who have been moms to those they did not bear but you loved them just the same we love you. Happy Mother's Day to you all. May you be honored today and always.

GIVING DUPAGE DAYS
Tomorrow begins the Giving DuPage Days partnership we have with the Lake Park Education Foundation (LPEF). The LPEF is a constant supporter of the arts and students at Lake Park. We are grateful for all they have done for the band program the past few years.

This year, we have a goal to collect $1000 for the LPEF through the DuPage Giving Days campaign. Many alumni and former parents want to support the band program in some way. Here's a great way to do it.

Please go to our lakeparkband.com site and click on the DuPage Giving Page specific for this promotion. Your generosity helps our entire band program by helping us things like special guest clinicians, new instruments, drum major camp participation and so much more. Help us smash our goal! Check with your employer to see if they can do a company match. Donations begin tomorrow May 1-May 3.
