The December cold 🤧 has come back!!! I’m NOT going to be at Bachman’s tomorrow. I’m sorry to disappoint anyone looking for me.
Hopefully I can shake this thing and be back baking again soon.

Today and last Sunday were both project days for getting organized with the business.
Photo 1: we removed all items from the former dining room/sewing room/business space (in which everything was stacked poorly on top of everything else). We put up 5 shelving units and I loaded them with thoughts to equipment, ingredients, packaging and market/event prep. One more set is on order to house canning prep items.
Photo 2: I cleared space in the utility room in the basement for a larger shelving unit. The canned goods were already stored in this room, but they were in boxes and it was difficult to keep track of inventory.

Overall, the new setup will be better for market/event prep.

Word has it that Santa 🎅🏻 is sending two of his helpers, Cranky Clause and Heather-Ryan Anderson aka Sprinkles, the Baking Elf, to the St Paul Farmers Market In December on two Saturdays - 12/2 and 12/9.

Come and meet Cranky Clause and Sprinkles while getting into the holiday mood. Bring the kids, Take a photo with them. Have some fun!!

Today was my first Saturday off since May, so what did I do? I went to the St Paul Farmers Market, of course 🤣 and I bought some veggies for Aunt Kathy’s Kitchen!!!

It was another week of canning and making dent in the list of marmalades and trying some new things.
L-R in the first picture is: 1.Blackberry pepper jam, 2.Blackberry Lime jam (almost a marmalade), 3.Citrus marmalade (oranges, lemons and limes), 4.Orange cranberry marmalade, 5.Orange marmalade, and 6.Apple-Aronia jelly.
For the jelly, see the second picture for more info. Last winter during the indoor markets I would look at the apple infusions from Panache and think of what to make with them. Of course jelly was my first thought, but I didn’t get around to it…until last weekend when I was directly across from Panache Apple at the market.
While I still have several items on my canning list, I made a small dent and added to my winter stock.

What was happening in the kitchen this week? I was able to spend some time canning and crossing items off my To-make list this week taking advantage of the produce I bought from the market over the past couple of weeks. And got to try something new and fun! (See second picture)

Beets, raspberry jam, apple butter, apple pie jam, and raspberry lemonade jam (like a marriage of jam and marmalade) AND Zucchini Bread Jam!!!

It’s not the end of the list by any means and next week there will be more canning.

It's NOVEMBER!!! Wow, time flies when you are busy all summer with farmers' markets. Things slow down this month and I am working on scheduling some events, so I will publish a calendar when it is ready.
But don't forget the Winter Schedule for the St Paul Farmers Market. This Saturday, 11/4, we will be at Bachman's Floral, Home and Garden in Apple Valley from 10 AM to 1 PM. I hope to see you there 😁👍 and let's hope for sunshine!

Today was “fun with natural food colors” day when making sourdough buns.
I used beetroot powder, turmeric and ground mustard for coloring the dough, hoping to not impart too much flavor, yet creating cool colors.
I’ve wanted to try this and finally did.

Tomorrow, 10/28 might be the last market of the summer season for Apple Valley, but that is not the end of the St Paul Farmers Market - starting on Saturday November, 4th you can shop with me and so many other fantastic vendors at Bachman's Floral, Home and Garden. Each market is offered ONCE a month in November, January, February, and March and will help you get over your wintertime blues.
Aunt Kathy’s Kitchen will be at the Apple Valley markets only, but may make an appearance downtown St Paul for the outdoor market periodically starting in December.
I hope to see many of you throughout the winter months at the various markets so you can get your fix of sweets, treats and eats from Aunt Kathy's Kitchen.

Hey folks, I’m going to err on the side of caution and potential rain, so I will NOT be going to the Farmington Minnesota Farmers' Market today.
I hope to see you throughout the winter at one of the markets held at Bachman’s in Apple Valley and other locations as they come up.

This is the last week for the outdoor farmers' markets, which is always bittersweet. 😢
And the weather is not looking good for the Thursday Farmington Minnesota Farmers' Market with rain forecast all day. On Saturday, the forecast is a chilly day with the high of 39 degrees (and maybe ❄️🥶) for the Apple Valley St Paul Farmers Market. Since weather forecasts are always a bit wonky, we will see what happens as we get closer.
So that's what is happening this week - stay tuned for the start of the WINTER MARKET Season!! (It's close) I hope to see you at the markets!!

It’s the time of year when the ghouls and goblins start making their appearance, so what better way to celebrate Halloween than with some ghoulish cookies!
Stop at the St Paul Farmers Market in Apple Valley tomorrow, 10/21 from 8 am until 1 pm and you just might find the treats along with some other fantastic items at the market.
Lots of great vendors including Utecht's Home Grown Pork, Green Machine Farm, Aspen Ridge Honey Farm, Txong Pao Lee Family Farm, Great Harvest Bread Co. Burnsville, Sunshine Apple Orchard and many others!!
