The rear foot elevated split squat, also referred to as the Bulgarian split squat, is a fantastic exercise for targeting and building the lower body. This exercise is fantastic for targeting the quads, glutes, and even hamstrings to some degree.
One of the best characteristics of the Bulgarian split squat is that it doesn’t take much to reap the benefits of this exercise. In fact, just performing them with one’s own bodyweight is more than enough to improve leg strength, size, and power.
What muscles does the Bulgarian Split Squat work?
Bulgarian split squats primarily work the quads and glutes. In addition, they work the hamstrings, calves, adductors, and require some core work depending on the variation being performed.

That consistency is key, and there are few things more regular than your four-legged friend needing to go outside for a walk, which you can turn into a full-body training session with just a few bodyweight exercises.
Dogs are highly trainable. They just need love, positive reinforcement, and consistency from you. If your dog isn’t used to a routine like this, give it time, have patience, and be consistent.

By the time I finish my Tuesday night workout and morning sparring sessions, I'm beat — and beat up. It's also my second workout of the day after a 7 a.m. lower body lifting session, so I need a little something extra to help my sore muscles recover.

This squat challenge is simple and easy to follow for any lifter, from beginner to advanced.
The squat is a compound exercise that works all the muscles in the lower body, including your butt muscles, quadriceps, hips, and hamstring tendons.
As your leg muscles, tendons, and glutes become stronger, you can move on to heavy load squat variations such as barbell squat, kettlebell squat, and dumbbell squats.
I would also add that the back squat, front squat, box squat, and sn**ch squat are amongst the most advanced variations.
If it’s your first time performing these moves or using weight for a heavy squat, be sure to ask a strength coach or a personal trainer to watch your squat form and answer common questions you may have.
