🔍 Veronica is not just a familiar face; she's a Certified Paraoptometric Assistant (CPOA), certified by the American Optometric Association since 2017. Her dedication to the field is evident in her voluntary work with The Commission on Paraoptometric Certification (CPC), where she contributed to updating the national paraoptometric examination and continuing education materials.

🧐 But Veronica's commitment doesn't stop there. She's taken additional courses focusing on critical topics like dry eye and the impact of diabetes on eye health. With almost a decade of experience, Veronica is an undisputed expert in various aspects of eye care, from capturing precise eye photos to ensuring you get the most from your contact lens order, and even handling pretesting.

Our Optometrists use a technique called ophthalmoscopy or funduscopy to examine the blood vessels in the back of the eye, known as the retina. This allows them to detect a wide range of health conditions, not just eye-related issues.

These observations can reveal signs of conditions like diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), cardiovascular disease, and even certain neurological disorders. It underscores the importance of regular eye exams not only for maintaining good vision but also for monitoring your overall health. Your eyes truly offer a unique window into your well-being.

Nearsightedness (myopia) and farsightedness (hyperopia) are two common vision problems caused by differences in the way the eye focuses light onto the retina:

1. **Nearsightedness (Myopia):**
- In nearsighted individuals, the eyeball is longer than normal or the cornea (the clear front surface of the eye) has too much curvature.
- This causes light to be focused in front of the retina instead of directly on it. As a result, distant objects appear blurry.
- Close-up objects may be seen clearly, which is why it's called "nearsightedness."

2. **Farsightedness (Hyperopia):**
- Farsighted individuals typically have a shorter eyeball or a flatter cornea.
- Light entering the eye focuses behind the retina rather than directly on it. This makes nearby objects appear blurry.
- People with hyperopia often have better distance vision than near vision. They may need to strain their eyes to focus on close-up objects.

Basically, nearsightedness makes distant objects blurry, while farsightedness affects the clarity of nearby objects. Both conditions can be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery, which help redirect light to focus properly on the retina. The terms "nearsighted" and "farsighted" describe how the eye deals with the location of the object in relation to the retina.
