Kelsey Sorg’s “Unmerging” is currently on view in the Witt Gallery and runs from 9/10 – 9/13. From the artist:
“Self portrait does not need to be just a face, just as self is not only the body. Portraits can and perhaps should tell the story of a person, the spaces they occupy, the aesthetics surrounding them. Sharing a messy nightstand can be more vulnerable and revealing than sitting with a relaxed face, hands folded, legs crossed. Likewise, self analysis during periods of dysphoria can be more accessible through the symbolism of personal objects or staging one’s space to tell a story than through the face or body.”
A reception will be held on Thursday, September 12th, from 5-7PM.

Thursday, September 12th, in the Hinde Auditorium for a conversation with artist Finnegan Shannon and curator Lauren Leving. A reception from 5-8PM in the Library Gallery will follow.

“Alone Together” presents recent large-scale works by Koo Kyung Sook and Ian Harvey, on view from 8/27 – 9/20 in the Else Gallery. Koo’s mixed media works focus on the body and the processes of life from birth to decay and death. Harvey’s paintings also address the ambiguities and flux of existence and identity. Inspired by the scale of their collaborative work, both artists have been focusing on creating immersive, large-scale work and have also dramatically increased the physical and tactile qualities to engage the viewer with an intensely sensuous experience. A reception will be held on Thursday, September 5th, from 5-7PM.
