Couldn’t be happier for her!

I remember having my ankle injured in high school and college and having to battle back. It is one of the main reasons I got into medicine. 20+ years later I’m proud to be a small part of this young lady’s recovery and using orthobiologics like PRP to help her get back on the field…

Big shout out to .iwasa for huge rehab contributions!

PRP Cell Count Anybody😃?

Check out this 60cc blood sample processed to 5cc Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) analysis showing we were able to:

1. Concentrate Platelets by 10x physiologic rate

2. Concentrate the “healing” white blood cells (monocytes)

3. Significantly reduce harmful white blood cells (neutrophils)

PRP dosing is of the upmost importance.

We take pride in being one of the few orthopedic clinics to have this technology a available👍👍👍🙏

When I’m not vampiring patients blood or bone marrow, I love to write books….. not really lol, but getting these book chapters done is one of the ways we can push the orthobiologic field forward.

While tedious and time consuming there’s no better feeling than getting hard copy with your hard work printed on it!!!

Big shout out to my co authors and editors

Clues to why older people get more tendon injuries

Older Adults Are More Prone to Tendon Injuries

Your tendons aren’t one piece, rather, they’re intricate bundles of fibers. Each bundle is surrounded by the interfascicular matrix (IFM), which helps tendons move and glide past each other and stretch on their own. As you get older, the IFM isn’t as elastic and is more prone to injury. This can lead to more cases of tendinitis throughout your body as you get older, study shows: http://ow.ly/F5eG30hQaBi

While more research is still needed, this information helps your physician better treat your specific tendon injury, so you can get back to doing the things you enjoy.

sciencedaily.com New research into how tendons age has found that the material between tendon fiber bundles stiffens as it gets older and that this is responsible for older people being more susceptible to tendon injuries.

Tendonitis

Tenex Tendonitis Treatment in Sacramento

Anytime you see “itis,” it means inflammation. In the case of tendinitis, it’s an inflammation of a tendon. You have tendons all over your body that attach muscles to bones. As durable as tendons may be, one wrong movement can cause a strain or tear, which causes swelling and pain. While tendinitis can occur anywhere in your body, you’re most likely to have it:

• At the base of your thumb
• In your knees or hips
• Along the bottom of your feet
• In your shoulders or elbows

As a double board-certified physician in Sacramento, Dr. Alberto J. Panero of SAC Regenerative Orthopaedics specializes in diagnosing and treating tendinitis. He has performed numerous Tenex procedures, which are a minimally invasive way to remove diseased tendon tissue. Because Tenex doesn’t require any stitches, you have minimal downtime or surgical risks. Find out more about Tenex and if it’s right for your tendon injury by scheduling an evaluation. Rotator cuff pain? Genetics might be to blame

Rotator Cuff Disease Could Be Hereditary

Rotator cuff disease affects 30-50% of men and women over age 50. It’s known for causing severe shoulder pain and reducing range of motion. If you have a sibling with a torn rotator cuff, you’re twice as likely to develop one yourself and five times as likely to experience pain and loss of function (as compared to someone who doesn’t have a sibling with a rotator cuff issue).

While more research needs to be conducted, this preliminary review from the Association of Academic Physiatrists suggests that if someone in your immediate family has rotator cuff issues, you’re probably going to have them too. Read more about the study here: http://ow.ly/dPPV30hQaB8

sciencedaily.com A new study shows rotator cuff disease might be a heritable trait. Rotator cuff disease is a common disorder that affects 30 to 50 percent of people over the age of 50. The disease often leads to shoulder pain and loss of function. While many think of this as a ‘tear’ due to an injury or sustain...
