Who else wants to prepare dinner in this pretty spot!?
Actually who wants to pick up take out and eat it in this lovely kitchen?๐ Me too.

I've been doing this interior design gig for a long time.
The cashier today asked what I do, and as I mentioned my trade, her eyes told me she thought it sounded glamorous.
And it can be.
A lot of the time it's not.
Most days are filled with a thousand decisions, details and exhausting management.
But standing in this finished bathroom, where all the elements sing together in an understated symphony, I think yes. Hard as it can be, I think I'll keep going.โค๏ธ
These craftsmen always amaze me. They take our designs and bring them to life with excellence. It takes a team to do this well, and I'm so thankful for our incredible and talented TYC build team!
Over the years we've worked hard to perfect the residential construction process. We believe in our process and believe that having design and build under one roof provides the very best experience for the renovation and building journey.

One of my favorite spots in a kitchen is the range. It's the workhorse of the space, and is always a focal point. My advice is to select the highest quality you can afford.
There's a lot to consider. Gas or induction. Width and oven configuration. Finish and Brand. All of these factors will impact not only the aesthetic but the function of your kitchen.
Appliance design is just one element of your kitchen design and is as important as every other element.
A room should never allow the eye to settle in one place. It should smile at you and create fantasy. -Juan Montoya
One of my favorites.

Who's happy it's Friday!?! ๐โโ๏ธ๐
I'm just over here coming up for air after being deep in my creative mode. With several large projects in their design phase, my brain is full of architectural plans, and oh so many finishes.
Can I be honest? While I love creating, I'm terrible at the organization of design. It's a running joke around here that Excel sheets make me want to run for the hills! ๐ And there are ever so many nitty gritty details in our projects that MUST get out of my head and into our project management system.
So today, I'm THANKFUL for my team that keeps us organized!! I really couldn't do it without them.

Sneak peek at some tile selections for a bathroom refresh that our client is completing on her own. It's going to be such a gorgeous space.
Our hourly design consulting services can look like this!
This lovely client gave us her wishlist, her budget, and we pulled together a few different options for her to decide from. Samples were ordered, and now her dad, who is her contractor, can run with the project!
Message us if you want to put some design hours under the Christmas tree! ๐๐
I don't know about you, but I'm obsessed with live garlands for my Christmas decor!!
To me they make every surface, entryway, and mantle better! ๐ Who's with me?

Happy Thanksgiving!! Mike and I are so thankful for our team, our clients, our colleagues, and everyone here on the gram. Your support means the world to us! Thank you for being here on our journey, and enjoy your turkey-day! ๐ฆ๐

I don't know about you...but I love being a part of a team! There's something so wonderful about belonging, and knowing that it's not all up to you. Plus, the sheer force behind a team of intuitive people determined to make things happen, always makes my creative heart happy!
This teamโค๏ธ...this team is the best!

Do you know how many decisions have to be made in your project? 12,532.
๐ ok, maybe not exactly, but trust me, there's A.LOT. And sometimes they are urgent.
That's part of my role for your project. Chief Decision Maker. When you feel renovation fatigue and have no idea where to move that light fixture, or how to adjust tile layout or any of the other decisions that will always come up, I'll be there to guide, help, and if you want, make the decision for you.
Our goal for your experience with TYC is to take the stress of renovations off your plate. We want you to sit back and watch the transformation while we do the heavy lifting.

While I love architectural design...and moving walls is a favorite choice, sometimes all a room needs is refreshed furnishings!
Never underestimate the power of window treatments, a rug, and a new sofa!

Of course you can put wallpaper on the ceiling. ๐ Also, I adore plaid.

So excited to reveal this beautiful project to you!!! This was a whole house transformation, but I'll start in the kitchen. I love how it turned out, I adore these trusting clients, and as always, final photos remind me that all the hard work to get here is worth it!!
Take a look around and comment on your favorite part!

The way these copper lights play off the moody paint color...
Kitchens are my favorite. I just love designing them. They're such a fun mix of function and form. Personality and purpose.
Homes are to be lived in.
Our approach to designing your space is to create spots all throughout your home where you want to stop and linger. Have that cup of coffee, chat with your friends, rest.
We live in such a hurried world, and we believe our homes should be places of refuge to breathe and soothe our souls.

These two are so talented! The Aslami brothers bring a high caliber of craftsmanship to everything they build. If you've ever had the TYC crew on your project, you can attest to the fact that these guys are the best!!

When we decided to create TYC to be a full service design and build firm years ago, Mike and I didn't really know what we were stepping into.
With my design business taking off, and Mike's background in construction, we just knew that together we were better than apart.
Keeping creative design and quality construction all under one umbrella, with one vision, enables us to deliver a seamless renovation experience. We'll be the first to tell you we're still learning and growing, especially through the last few years of supply chain madness. But we promise to continue to grow, improve our industry, and always walk with our clients through their renovation journey.

Still love this kitchen. โค๏ธ
Design Tip: Do not underestimate the importance of art in your home.
In my opinion, there's nothing quite as powerful as a well chosen art piece to invoke the mood you are wanting in your space.
Whether you want drama or you prefer playfulness(like this dining room)...well chosen art will define that for you.

We love a good before and after!
Taking old things and making them new is at the very core of The Yellow Chair. From the original old farm chair that we transformed with paint years ago(the mascot around here), to the extensive renovations we do now, it's always been about the possibilities we see and bring out.
This tambour wood inspired tile was one of my favorites from this project and my colleague Jarod at helped me find it. I went to him explaining what I was dreaming up, and he magically found the perfect option!
The stunning plumbing on that wall...what you don't see are the hours poured over the elevation we drew up. Making sure the final placement was exactly tailored to the client. The finished perfection is a result of collaboration with and I'm deeply thankful!
The stacked wall tile was a detail that brings in beautiful texture to this shower, but was tedious to install up the 10 feet walls and onto the ceiling. I am grateful for our TYC crew led by .aslami.92 who always knock it out of the park!
I share all this to say, transforming spaces is a team sport. As they say, teamwork really does make this dream work, and I'm thankful for the ones on my team!๐
Know someone who is looking for a job?
We're looking to add some fun people to our construction crew. Full time with competitive pay based on experience. Experience is preferred but we are willing to train. If you know of someone who would be a good fit...send them our way!
Is it just me, or do you want to hang out in this lovely kitchen too?
Some of my favorite details:
*this new built-in banquette and table moment. It's created for lively conversations while cooking, and also quiet morning coffees.
*The knurled brass hardware with backplates, and the way they speak to the knurled detailing on the faucets.
*The way the client's love for a mid century modern vibe was captured but also merged with some contemporary style to create a one of a kind kitchen! โค๏ธ
What's your favorite detail?? Drop a comment and let us know.

Are you ready for this gorgeous kitchen transformation!!
This space turned out amazing!!!! The clients really wanted an island, and lots of seating as they love to gather family while they cook, and even though the space isn't overly large, we took on that challenge and are thrilled with the results!
