For those looking for a little Extra Guacamole, look no further! This is the big brother to Guacamole is Extra IPA, but in the bigger Double IPA form.

Extra Guacamole features a similar recipe as the original, just amped up with more malt and hops. We brew this with Rahr 2-row, Munich, and rye malt and then hop it with a heavy dose of Citra, Mosaic, and CTZ hops. The resulting beer walks the line between fruity and dank with notes of passionfruit, citrus, and dank hops.

Here at Urban Roots, we’ve always believed that great things come to those who wait, and our Apricot Perpetual Journey Barrel Fermented Saison is no exception.

We started by taking a portion of our Perpetual Journey and placing it in freshly emptied red wine barrels. We then introduced a blend of our saison yeast and a wild mix of brettanomyces, pediococcus, and lactobacillus. This mix underwent primary fermentation in the barrel for one week, creating a base of complex flavors and aromas.

Next, we transferred the beer into stainless steel tanks and added apricot puree for a second fermentation. The apricots brought a delightful fruity character to the beer, enhancing its overall profile. But we didn’t rush things. We allowed this beer to undergo nearly 6 months of bottle and keg conditioning.

The result is a saison that’s bursting with apricot notes, a balanced tartness, and a subtle wild funk. Apricot Perpetual Journey Barrel Fermented Saison is currently available exclusively in bottles to-go.

We’ve brewed up something special for your summer nights – introducing Summer Haze Hazy IPA! This beer is heavy on the Cascade, Citra, Citra Cryo and Strata hops.

This is the first time we've integrated our hand selected Cascade into a hazy IPA and it really drives a fruity berry and currant like character when fermented with our expressive ale yeast.

Citra and Strata bring their usual passionfruit and guava tropical goodness to the party and a clean but crisp bitterness rounds out the flavor profile. A great crushable hazy IPA for those Sacramento Summer nights.

Let's dive into our collaboration beer with Thornbridge Brewery "Under The Trees," a West Coast IPA with Mosaic Cryo, Whole Leaf Simcoe, HBC586 Cryo, Simcoe, Citra Spectrum, Mosaic and Citra.

Utilizing the "Hop Dip" method at their brewhouse for the first time, we modified it slightly with the use of a new product from Haas called Spectrum instead of our usual Incognito addition to the fermenter. Their brewery is equipped with a special device called a Hopnik, an additional tank that allows the hot wort to flow through a bed of whole leaf hops on its way to the heat exchanger.

We packed it full of whole leaf Simcoe hops for some extra grassiness and punch. All in all, this beer employs T90 traditional pellets, whole leaf hops, cryo hops and spectrum extract to get every possible format of hops into the beer for an explosive, citrusy, tropical aroma and flavor.

We are still working on logistics, but we are hoping to get some of this beer back in our taproom once released. Stay tuned!

Exciting news from across the pond! Urban Roots co-founders Peter Hoey and Rob Archie teamed up with Thornbridge Brewery in the UK to brew "Under The Trees," a West Coast IPA with Mosaic Cryo, Whole Leaf Simcoe, HBC586 Cryo, Simcoe, Citra Spectrum, Mosaic and Citra.

Peter met Rob Lovatt, Director of Brewing Operations, years ago when traveling in the UK and then had the opportunity to host him in Sacramento when he was in California for the Craft Brewers Conference. While walking around downtown he commented about all the trees we have in such an urban area so we were compelled by that visit to name this collaboration beer Under The Trees.

Huge thanks to the Thornbridge team for this amazing opportunity to collaborate on a beer, and we couldn't be more excited to enjoy a pint of Under The Trees!

This one's for all you Citra lovers! Introducing Love Your Roots #10, the latest release in our experimental IPA series that is a 100% Citra Hop Dipped IPA.

Hop dipping is the process where we add incognito hop (think hop honey) directly to the fermenter prior to fermentation. The beer then gets dry hopped like normal and the resulting beer is just a massively aromatic hop forward presentation of pure Citra goodness.

Incredibly fruit forward, this beer showcases the kind of Citra profile we look for in our hop selection: tropical, passionfruit, guava and juicy fruit. Citra pellets, Citra Cryo, and Citra incognito...all the Citra!
