MUST SEE! The Drover Coach (aka X-757)

The Drover Coach is part of our new History of MN Trains exhibit at the Minnesota Transportation Museum.

The X-757 was built by Barney & Smith in June of 1893. It was a first-class vestibuled coach with 4.25" x 8" journals, 42" diameter wheels, had four centerline oil lights and seated 58 passengers.

The coach was delivered to the St. Paul, Minneapolis & Manitoba Ty. on June 29th, 1893. The original cost including delivery was $5,327.61, which would cost roughly $200,000 today.

Electric lights were added to the coach in June of 1926.

After approximately 37 years in the passenger service for the Great Northern Railroad, it was coverted to the Drovers Coach X-757 on April 26th, 1930 at the Jackson Street Shops.

Coach X-757 was officially retired from Great Northern Service in 1961.
