Due to continued icy conditions this morning, for the safety of our patients and staff, all of our clinics will be closed this morning, Wednesday, January 17th. We plan to be open this afternoon.

If you have money set aside in a Flexible Savings Account (FSA) as part of your health insurance coverage, you can use it towards a new pair of glasses (or prescription sunglasses!) before the end of the year. Some insurance plans call it a Health Savings Account (HSA). Either way, if you have money in your account it will only last through the end of the year. That’s why you should use it now or lose it all! Some insurance plans allow you to carry the amount into the next year for a couple of months, but you still have to use it (or lose it). Yes, it can be confusing. Come talk to us, we can help!

A reminder that our offices will be closed Thursday and Friday this week for Thanksgiving, and our main office at 1309 Liberty will be closed on Saturday as well. Hope everyone enjoys the long weekend celebrating fall with family and friends!

Since the beginning of April, patients and staff are no longer required to wear masks in Oregon health care settings. This ends a statewide requirement that began in August 2021.

Masks remain an effective way to reduce transmission of respiratory viruses, and we recommended wearing a mask if you are sick. Individuals with health conditions that put them at high risk for severe illness should continue to wear masks wherever they feel comfortable.

MASKS ARE STILL REQUIRED
The recent changes lifting mask requirements by the State of Oregon do not apply to health care settings. As a health care clinic, we are required to follow federal guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Therefore, at this time, there is no change to the requirement that all patients, visitors, and staff must wear masks upon entry into our offices whether they are vaccinated or not.

COVID UPDATE: The CDC recently announced the lifting of masking mandates for fully vaccinated individuals across the country.

Per Oregon Governor Brown’s update, Oregon will adopt the CDC guidelines for fully vaccinated individuals with the following exceptions:

Public transportation, hospitals, health care clinics, correctional facilities, and long-term care facilities will continue to require individuals to remain masked and distanced regardless of their vaccination status.

As a health care clinic, Eye Care Physicians & Surgeons’ policies and guidelines on masking requirements will remain the same: Masks are required to be worn by all staff and patients regardless of vaccination status (vaccinated or unvaccinated).
