The objective of the Science Collaborative Research Program (SCRP) is to provide selected undergraduate students a unique opportunity to work directly with faculty in the natural and computational sciences.
From the depths of ancient Scotland to the heights of AI, our students have explored a wide range of topics across Life, Physical, and Information Sciences.
Highlights of this years symposium include:
◾ How data collected from tree rings can be used to build a climactic record of the Salem area
◾ What can be learned from soil found in a 5,000 year old archaeology dig in Scotland
◾ How participant language affects results from a Census Bureau survey
outreach to retirement aged subjects to understand their cognition and improve teaching methods
◾ How AI can be used to draft blueprints for engineers

During this special event, our newest Bearcats are formally welcomed into the Willamette family. Alums play a key role in the ceremony by lighting candles for the students. The passing of the light from alum to student symbolizes the transfer of Willamette's traditions to a new generation of Bearcats. After alums light their candles, students place them in the Mill Stream, marking the official beginning of their Willamette journey.
